Agreed, i was hesitant in the first few episodes myself but once i got past the mentality of "it's supposed to be a sequel" i enjoyed it a lot for what it was the rest of the seasons.

Yyyyyessss, good advice for them lol. I usually tell people to just think of it not as a sequel, but as a continuation of the world of ATLA, and aaaall the things that come with the continuation of a world of peace following a world of wartime. I think you’ll enjoy Korra though. I enjoy and love both series for different reasons, and I hope you guys do too!

You get a much deeper explanation of the Lion Turtles and their part in this world in a two-parter titled "beginnings" in season two of Korra. If you do plan on reacting to Korra just go in understanding that it isn't ATLA, it is different. The characters are different, the structure of the show is different, and the storytelling is different. It's pretty good overall and does a great job expanding the lore of the Avatar universe. Also, not sure how much of the show you remember but in episode two Sokka tells Aang that you can't fight the fire nation with fun and he does it with the airship birthday bit. There are soo many great call backs in this show.

They didn’t wrap up the storyline about zukos mother…. They’d planned on another series or a movie but it got cancelled because of the terrible m night movie…. It was gonna be about zuko finding his mom…. But the adapted it into a comic

Good connection between the Dragons passing knowledge through fire and the Lion Turtle passing knowledge through touch. Both of those animals are primordial in Avatar. The Lion Turtle is one of the oldest creatures in the World, and the Dragons are the first firebenders. They hold connections to the Spirit World and the beginning of the World, and can pass that knowledge to others.
