Many of your current questions will indeed be answered in this season, no spoilers so I wont say which, when. I think you'll like how Joe and Hildy (not Jerry! 😉) unraveled the mysteries. The first half of the season is pretty good but the second half is insanely good, best TV ever. You are right about Michael though, he uses his power to draw out people's fears to manipulate them. His plan with maze is simply to have her on his side against Lucifer. Also, the more we advance in the series, the less the "crime of the week" is the focus. They only serve the characters development.
