In the comics, in the Dreaming, Morpheus inner thoughts could be heard by everyone around him. So he didn't have a filter. Outside the dreaming, he could. I imagine we'd all be pricks if we couldn't filter out some of our thoughts. Now, with that being said, yeah he's kind of harsh and a dick lol
