I like your ideal about how Thors somewhat similar to Ketil. But I also want to point out a major difference between them: In eps2 ss1, when Thorffin picked up a dagger, Thors grabbed it, hurting himself just to show Thorfiin how terrible fighting and violence be, and later Thors also spanked Thorffin when he sneaked up on their ship. And about Ketil, when he saw Thorgil wanted to chop off that kid's arms, he scared, he scared of his own son. Then later he proceed to cry about it. Also, don't worry , those "Iron Fist Ketil" things will be answered when you get to the further of the show. *Funfact: In the manga, that scene when Ketil lying on Arnheid's lap, she actually fully naked, hope that clarify their relationship.
