When Toji said something was off that means his instinct is telling him that he won't win this. But his pride and his hate towards jujutsu sorcerers and Gojo being the pinnacle of that. He wanted to deny his instinct and wanted to prove that NO he can take down the society that banished him for not having cursed energy. Also they are all clapping because Riko is dead. Since they see Tengen as their deity the idea that a human would assimilate with their "god" is taboo and impure
