There were 2 ships, the warship and Leif’s merchant vessel, Leif had said that he could only fit 5 more people on his boat for the trip back (since Thors wasn’t planning to take them into battle), so that’s why there were only 5 other guys (plus stowaway Thorfinn), so we can assume Leif took everyone onto his ship after Thors died. I’m still not sure how Thorfinn managed to stay on the warship while Askeladd’s crew took it over without Leif or anyone from their group noticing lol
