2023-05-17 15:30:02 +0000 UTCFunny how an anime shows probably the most realistic depiction of vikings we've seen in a while. Usually youd expect the anime to be over the top ridiculous (which it definitely is at times) but this is exactly what they did, they butchered innocents and stole from them. Its obviously cool to see vikings media and stories nowadays but they were not good folks.

2023-05-17 02:54:21 +0000 UTCThe main point of them being in Wales was to get away from Thorkell, it helped that Askeladd has ties there (though he probably had getting the non-aggression treaty with Wales as a goal anyway)- they are now trying to get back to Gainsborough where the main Danish force is to return Canute to Sweyn and hopefully be rewarded. Thorkell captured Canute with a reward/ransom in mind as well. They now have to get through a larger portion of enemy territory because of their massive detour, and are going to be needing food/supplies/etc as they go.
