Yeah, Yabushige was trying to slink off. First, he said let’s go to the gate, but Mariko suggested the storehouse. Then on the way he tried to go off again, but John called him into the storehouse. He had no choice. The guys on the ramparts weren’t Ishido’s men. Steve is right. It doesn’t matter if they suspect. Just like the death of the other regent, and keeping the hostages to begin with - everyone KNOWS it’s bullshit, but they can’t say anything. They were planning on kidnapping her and making it seem like a third party did it. It just takes her off the table. They didn’t let her leave so they get to keep their hostages and they didn’t kill her. If they had kidnapped her, the plan was to continue with the original plan. They can’t do that now because she died. She knew that dying would fuck up his plan of pretending he had nothing to do with it. At the very least, it makes Osaka and his leadership look weak.
