Comments

So looking at the comments here nobody has explained it yet, but a braindance is a recording of somebody elses experience, like a digital memory. You can experience those moments if they were recording (scrolling) during them.

Cyberpunk primer: The Cyberpunk genre is a dark, dystopian, tech-noir future based on the works of Philip K Dick (author of "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, the basis for Bladerunner), and later, William Gibson (author of Johnny Mnemonic, Neuromancer, and several others). Megacorporations rule all, having more power than even national governments. Society is divided between the rich Haves (corporate employees, "corpos" or "suits") and the poor Have-nots (everyone else). It's capitalism run amuck to the extreme. Edgerunners are criminals - mercenaries who live in the shadows between the megacorps, running on the edge of society. Cyberware - Cybernetic implants are commonplace, with most people at least having chip-reader implants. Also known as "chrome", cyberware can include everything from martial arts software, armor plating, enhanced reflexes, and speed to super strength, hidden blades, guns, and cyberwarfare hacking gear. The opening scene was David experiencing a fresh recording of the real cyberpsycho incident from the cyberpsycho's point of view. This recording technology is called a "braindance" or BD. It was a real recording taken from the psycho's scroller. It actually happened, and he was able to experience it first-person as a BD. His mom was cleaning up the scene. The human body can only tolerate so much artificiality. The body tries to reject the foreign objects, so the more implants you get, the less human you become. You need a steady diet of immunoblocker drugs. Eventually, your body and mind can't take anymore, and you snap and go crazy, or "cyberpsycho". There is a special forces high-tech paramilitary response team called Max-Tac which exists specifically to deal with dangerous cyberpsychos. Rich people can afford "tactical life insurance" plans through a company called Trauma Team. If the policy-holders vital signs reach certain critical levels, or the policy holder hits their panic button, an armed response team is dispatched to rescue you and save your life, with deadly force if necessary. The level of response depends on the level of the plan you pay for, Platinum being the highest and most expensive. Eds or eddies - Slang for EuroDollars (ED) Nova - slang for "Awesome!" "Cool!" Chrome - slang for cyberware Choom - slang for "dude", "buddy", "asshole" generic Netrunner - hacker
