"Senpai" means "upperclassman" or someone older than you. Correct, in Japan, "third-years" are seniors. They don't have a fourth year.

The teams in Haikyu all are based on and generally named for animals of some type. The Karasuno team are represented by crows.

Excellent voice acting as well. So popular that the Japanese Olympic and some professional volleyball teams play one of the theme songs at their games!

The fandom of this anime think its hard to hate a team/dislike any characters. Everyone is pretty likeable. For high schools is japan, you usually take an entrance exam to get into your high school choice even if you live in another town. The school accepts you only if you pass, so they'd have to keep other options in mind as well if they don't get in. 3rd yrs are the seniors. Their high schools start at 10th grade. So 1st yrs are sophmores. We have another Genos/Iida va and you'll recognize alot of other va's as well! Rengoku's va is here as the captain. The one that John always mentions 😂 i dont mean to spoil but he is in this anime as well.. see if you can notice tho because its different than the usual Hinata is another character that has a great personality/attitude like Tanjiro, Mob and Deku 😭 And the manga has been finished but the anime is not finished yet but moost of the manga has been animated.
