I believe they mentioned Kyou-u’s father’s name last episode, I believe he’s related to Shishou (or possibly Shenmei) and is part of the Shi clan- I can’t say for sure what Maomao trailed off saying about his mother, but I want to say that in the room where Shenmei is staying, it looked like possibly a drug orgy or something along those lines- smoke hanging in the air, people passed out on the bed (they were fully clothed, but that may have just been censorship for the anime)- so Maomao might have been glad to not know which woman was his mother and have a reason not to have to come up with something else to tell the kid (rather than the truth of what his mom was probably engaged in)

2025-07-11 20:52:58 +0000 UTCIt’s a little crazy- but to clarify, Suirei’s grandmother was Shenmei’s attendant Taihou (maybe a lady in waiting, but I don’t think they ever specifically referred to her as such) that claimed to have gotten pregnant by the previous emperor but it was blamed on to a doctor (not Luomen) that was ejected from the rear palace with the baby (Suirei’s mother) who later had Suirei with Shishou- then Shenmei was released from the rear palace and had Loulan with Shishou- Shenmei hated Suirei and her mother and abused them while treating them as servants (probably why Suirei’s mother is no longer alive)
