The Endless are more than Gods...they don't die when people stop believing in them. Their function is Endless...they can be killed but there is always a successor to take up their mantle...although, I'm not sure if an Endless death has actually happened before? I haven't read the comics in awhile. Essentially the Endless have been doing their function since the beginning of time, on many worlds and universes....Earth is not the only universe they have been apart of...and once their function is done on Earth they will do their function somewhere else. Dream and his siblings are eons of years old....they've been around for billions upon billions of years. Also Destruction didn't die, he left to explore new worlds and universes...essentially, he was just saying Goodbye forever to Dream and Delerium. Also you did see Johanna Constantine in the modern day...she is the descendant of Lady Johanna Constantine (played by the same actress). Dream first met Lady Johanna then met the modern day Johanna last season when he was looking for his sand...he has known her family for centuries. And just to make things a little clearer for you...any of the Endless could have ended Orpheus' life...due to their power and status of being more than Gods they can technically kill anything - immortal or otherwise - and it would stay dead....however, since the Endless have the "cannot spill family blood" rule they didn't dare to give Orpheus an end to his suffering....only Dream did, because as Destruction kept telling him Love is the best reason to do anything. So really Dream killed his son out of love, which shows that he really has changed...and that Nada was wrong when she said "his kinds can't love" and that Destruction was wrong when he told Ishtar that he was afraid that Dream would "never know love or be loved." - This whole show is basically showing us that Dream has changed even if he doesn't really see it yet I think- but all those that have been coming into contact with him who have known him a long time (Destruction, Delerium, Calliope, Orpheus, Lucienne, Gilbert, etc.) they have all seen his growth...Dream is truly capable of loving and being loved...his son proved that.
