Really silly idea here: Use a tiny bit of Patreon dough to promote some videos on YT and Twitter. It will burn a hole in Alphabet's pocket since they can't sell ads on your videos but have to still serve them to new fans. If you get another viral hit that they can't monitize, so much the better for you. I really like how doubled down on Patreon and Twitch Soviet Womble went quite early on, particularly given how blue those videos are. Youtube will someday HAVE to move to constant human oversight (just like what you envisioned) if all of their content becomes either: 1. Corporate videos and advertising 2. Music videos that cost more in bandwidth than the royalties pay 3. Stolen content that is hugely popular and takes up bandwidth (or are empty videos with shady links) 4. Very popular content that is unfriendly to advertisers (either because it's blue and funny or because it's tasteless and violent). Tl;dr: We are entertained here and should be willing to pay for it. Indirectly and passively by viewing ads or directly by paying Dan on Patreon or Twitch. And by the way, Dan, don't spare the gasoline when you burn the channel down. We'll help you ;)

I have been watching for a long time now and stuck with you no matter what, I love the content you have made the whole way through and have watched about all of your videos (even the desert bus ones (about twice actually)) but I will support you no matter the changes to the channel or what you make. I think the changes will be good for the channel, making what you love with the best attitude (plus the people fleeing from the PC of the rest of the platform).

Scared? I'm excited for you and excited for us. I enjoy what you do, and if you're feeling good about still doing youtube I'm feeling good about the videos I can look forward to watching. And daily twitch streams sounds like a decent plan -- no overhead of editing or fighting with youtube and you get to deliver interactive daily entertainment sounds like it's good for everyone except youtube. So, I think youtube is the only party who has a reason to feel scared.

Sounds sick, can't wait for it. Glad you followed my advice of only doing YouTube as a part time thing (even if you didnt specifically read it...). I think we're all excited to see you do what you want, when you want without being constrained by the need for income or how PC you're being.

I can't say how happy I am that you're making such a huge change, it sounds like it will be healthy for your company, your channel, and most of all yourself. Your best videos are the ones you enjoy making (surprise!), so fewer videos but always with that guarantee? Awesome. I love when I do catch the live Twitch streams, but replays on Twitch, with the chat running alongside, are also great. Especially since I can pause.
