The Patreon Podcast - Episode 35 - I regret this

I do

- Dan

Comments

I did not realise Jay died until right now. I knew it was coming but didn't realise it already had.

Harry Jupp

What are your opinions on jim Jeffries ( comedian )

wade beale

That Permadeath Co-op on Sniper Elite was fantastic!

Patrick Jackson

Hi Dan, you asked for honest opinions and I must say that I really prefer the regular podcast. I understand that if you were there during live stream it's more fun and I can imagine that it's more fun for you as well because there's some actual feedback to what you say. But it is way more a thing of you reacting to what people say instead of giving us an update on how things are going or things you noticed you want to talk about. And those things missing in this one are the things I like the most about the podcast episodes. Keep up the good work, can't wait till I receive my copy of your book!

Tailmartian

So whats the difference between assassin creed odysseys single player micro-transaction compared to Dues Ex mankind Divided single player micro-transactions? I ask since i haven't heard you talk about them as much with regards to AC odysseys, then you did with Dues Ex MD's Micro-transactions.

Merriment

if factorio came out this year would it be better than god of war

Rhio Hamilton

I recently upgraded my pc, so now I can run some more games. I'm thinking about picking up GTA V, but would you recommend it in light of all the microtransactions etc. Would the game still be enjoyable? Should I buy it now or wait until a sale?

Finally going to have WiFi at home again on Friday (hopefully) so next week I'll probably be losing about 3 days to catching up on your videos, another 1-2 days depending on what Jon's been playing recently. See you on the other side I suppose.

Tom Chaney

It’s a bit too chaotic for my taste just too listen to. Jumping from one comment to another didn’t really develop anything. It either need a structure or at least a common theme. Jumping between twiddlies, dogs, shows, questions, watcher dropping their life experiences,... is too much I feel for the podcast.

Lionel Yesat

Dan, if I'm honest I wasn't a fan of this. It wasn't as connected to just patreon and kinda felt like I could just listen to a normal stream if I wanted. Thanks for the content anyway

Only listening to this now but honestly if all the world was as gay as your chat it would be far amazing! (secretly wishing it was as a closeted bi thing)

James G. Jones

This was quite dumb. I couldn’t stand the constant switching between each person and you reading wayyyy to quick for me to even understand stand anything. Please don’t make this replace the weekly podcast.

Grantarg

I'm definatly all for more sleep deprived stream podcasts.

RaptorBricks

This was fun but I would prefer if the podcast remained the same. Maybe do this as a monthly thing? I'm definitely not against it but it feels incomplete to listen to when you're not there live.

Joshua Aarons

Good to hear someone else that likes Eureka, would love to see it brought back. What is your take on Warehouse 13?

I'll be honest Daniel though i guess it was very funny and interesting if you were watching the stream and chatting along but i don't think it's very funny to listen to and i personally rather have the normal podcast

Jordan den Heeten

I've graduated from the University of Leicester twice now, and I know you dropped out but it's neat that there's that connection.

Kittenpyjamas

This is a decent experiment, but it definitely shouldn't replace the podcast.

Kloovt

for feedback on this live podcast, it just sounds like a stream with no video. it's just like you distracted from a game, but, like, 100% distracted. i do love your streams, but i like the format of podcasts

CMS creations

THAT WAS SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOD! Definitely want to see that monthly.

Omari Antony

Hey Dan you haven't played Tooth and Tail yet I really recommend it as an RTS you can play with a campaign

YourJelly

This was... Different

Mathieu Marlaire

Hey Dan, Netflix recently added all of the Monty Python films and the flying circus, they are one of my favorite comedy acts, and I just wanted to know what you thought of them?

Alex Bonilla

That was weird but fun while playing mario kart!

Derwen Fay

Someone mentioned R.W.B.Y. and I just wanted to say you most likely wouldn't like it, but it is a very lovable show. If you care to read another (2) short paragraphs about the subject with a brief explanation of why it was liked and when it all went wrong, here it is: People say it's an Anime but it's not really (no 4 act writing structure and the culture is absolutely western), it's just styled after anime and the world is very "Rule of Cool". Made by a guy named Monty Oum, who you've probably scene as the guy who animated the action scenes from Red vs Blue. And that's kinda the largest appeal is that the action scenes are amazing-over-the-top bonkers beautiful, and it has a kickass punk-rock soundtrack. The writing and everything is fine I guess, couple of genuinely great heartfelt scenes, and the second season was actually really good, but there are also some shit tier parts too because Monty knows nothing about writing. Everything is really low-budget, which I guess is part of the charm because it was the kinda low budget you could tell the creators really cared about what they where making. After vol 2. Monty died, and his best friend and production partner took over for vol. 3 and it was actually good, but then he got fired for "Season 4 of Community esque- Creative Differences" (yada yada) and rooster teeth took over the show and made it soulless from vol. 4 and onward, and the best friend released almost a book-long letter telling everyone how shit R/T was to him and his crew for having a spine. Seriously though, the soundtracks from vol's 1-3 are hot shit.

Bloojay

Avengers 4: YOU BASTARDS HE WAS MY FAVOURITE! Also I hope Iron Man's Infinity Suit has two stones where his balls are.

Narmatonia

Have you read An Absolutely Remarkable Thing? It's a great book about the affects of online fame. It's also a sci-fi about first contact. I thoroughly recommend.

Barnable

Honestly I don't think streaming the podcast is a good idea, however streaming the 'monthly' patreon questions like you did in 2016(?) was col and if you're gonna stream patreon content let it be that

By the time you read this you probably know, but just a reminder that you were the first tweet they used on the BBC: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-45763549

Having experienced live the wonder-mess that was last night (don't if I've ever linked up here that I'm nediane over there), came over to see what you stuck on the front and end. First, I think if you do one of these every 4-6 months, that might work. The problem becomes that it sort of turned into a stream of twiddly-having Qs, but if you really want to do this, you'll figure it out. Second, that sounds like the best possible layout for your Youtube + Twitch life. I love the completes being on Twitch where the interaction can lead to things like finding an obsidian eye in the innards of the goat you...frankly, molested. And your (now with extra added Matt) edited videos are the best and just what Youtube is for. I do hope Twitch will also be a place for futzing around with other things along with the completes game, though, because I'd be sad to lose games like Celeste (of course, you could always make that a small competes to occasionally break up the giant AC, I wouldn't object, and am sure sorio would agree).

Diane Frank

I just love the random dribble that come from sleep deprived Dan! Will love this as a semi regular thing :D Even if I can't see chat.

RobM Shaw

I feel like if you do it once a month that might be a bit much.

Jellex

Maybe once or twice a year?

Jellex

Dan I know you don't go to the cinema often BUT you would really enjoy A Star Is Born! It's such a beautiful love story I cried my eyes out, just as much as I do for a Richard Curtis film. And as a musical of course it's amazing because Lady Gaga is the titular star (and wrote the music!) and Bradley Cooper blew me away he has such a good voice! It's about loving someone with addiction problems so it's not a comedy film but there's a drag bar at the beginning and the queens are so funny, you might recognise some of them from watching RPDR with Rebecca! :)

Snizzbut

This was good. But I prefer the normal podcast which is just you rambling to us sort of privately.

Douglas Hodgson

This was certainly...interesting to say the least, definitely would listen to this shitstorm again, maybe just keep it to once a month or so?

Hello Dan; this would do better as a segment of a normal podcast because spontaneous peen stuff was funny, but keep it at 15-30 minutes at most, then the majority of the episode is like normal just you and us. I think the live chat can somewhat derail the podcast feeling that you have created where you just ramble away at your own pace which is honestly the best thing that anyone I support on patreon does.

Jonathan

Just gonna throw it out there that I didn't really enjoy this. It felt just like any other stream, which we already have. The Patreon Podcast is totally different, more personal and sensible. Maybe not so much fun. But much more enjoyable for someone like me who doesn't want jokes all the time but instead something more like a conversation or diary.

Alex

I think I would rather you did this occasionally, but not all the time, as one of the advantages of the pay wall is you are able to say the occasional thing which you might not want to live, and you know that no one here is going to be an arse about it. So this was ok, but not what I think this should be all the time.

Well Read Nomad

I love this podcast. I've been in histerics since around the 1 hour 15(ish) minutes mark. It's fun. I love this. "Because fuck you people, haha, no, one at a time"

ThisDamnScotsman

Really enjoyed listening & the random chat input is fun. Maybe not every week but would like to see it again in the future.

David

You asked how we feel about doing the podcasts live more and was gonna be all "nooooo don't give the poor people our special thing" but then I realised that's dumb and I'd prefer to pay for something to let everyone enjoy it, because I'm a fucking socialist 😂

Andyface

Just got to the point where you said you had not seen Withnail and I. Watch Withnail and I. Its god damn amazing.

Well Read Nomad

It’s was funny do it every so often

GamerGeorgeXl

Dan, please make Assassins creed origins essentially a live completes, everyone seems to be enjoying it.

Well Read Nomad

Did you know that next week (or this week if you're reading it next week...) is the first anniversary of the patreon podcast?

Stan Gaskell

I am unashamed that I was part of this. (Darrerdian/ Dadaderderderdian)

Will Carlson

Right. Brainwave.....a secret twitch account for patreons! Be better for questions since people can explain what they mean...*sigh*

Scott

I was....ASLEEP

Scott

I’m happy to say I wasn’t apart of this.

Scott

Making a live podcast with us was pretty fun, doing a live one every so often I think is an interesting idea Dan, quick question what are your thoughts on the Netflix Witcher series their making?

I'm sorry to say I missed this mess. :(

CodingEntity

I'm sorry to say I caused this mess.

Westley Wilson

O boy, I'm sorry to say I was a part of this mess :)
