The Future of the Channel

Dun dun duuuun.

- Dan

Comments

I'm a patreon for the podcast, aka listening to Dan chat into my ear about stuff from his life, it's quite cozy

The person reading this is sexy and epic

I give money to support Dan. What about Nerd3 speedruns?

Samuel

I give money to support Dan's various creative products, but especially comedic gaming videos.

Septimus ii

I'm a patron because I have watched the channel for about 6 or 7 years and I like the podcast because it gives me a bit more content to listen to when I'm sad or bored. It really helps me get through life, even if I don't give as much as I'd like (still being in school is an issue) Thanks Dan for being amazing 😀

Malachy Hamilton

I give money because Dan is a person with whom I feel closely connected. Not in a weird way (I least I hope not :p), just because he is a person who helped me to become the person I am today. I nearly went down a very dangerous path in terms of social politics and everything like that, but Dan pulled me away from that. He fostered my love of Star Trek, rekindled my love of Doctor Who, introduced me to more games than I can count and has been a constant source of support, comfort and, of course, laughter. I support him because I have no other way to say thank you, given that I'm unlikely to ever meet him :(

Harry Cook

I'd love some fun patreon videos that you enjoy. Also more pokemon videos

If you do leave YouTube, please make a goodbye video. I'll still watch you on twitch and watch your old videos on YouTube.

I give money because I like supporting Dan and enjoy the extra podcasts I get with it

Maybe an edited version of the livestreams you enjoyed? Got my support wherever this goes

I've always supported because i like what you do with the money, most youtubers fund themselves, you employed your friends so they can do what they enjoy as well as yourself, although, would love the tubecasts to return :)

I support you purely to listen to this podcast occasionally and check in with your creative endeavours. I don't watch the streams or videos anymore but I still want to support you with funding for anything you put out. I suppose I just like you as an entertainer more than any of your particular projects.

I support you on patreon for pretty much anything but twitch. That is sadly too much content to watch in any other way but in the background. And my favorite videos are pretty much all the VR ones

Welf Garkisch

I support the patreon in order to give you the creative freedom that I enjoy seeing the results of - no matter the medium!

Sophie Wyllie

You can get an RSS of raw mp3s

Sophie Wyllie

Can you please list these podcasts in another format? The patreon player is such shit that it stops about every minute and then when you play it again it STARTS OVER and you have to manually scroll to the last timestamp. They said they fixed it in one of the last updates but it's still shit. Please. Thank you.

Jennifer J Waldorf

I pledge because i have grown up watching your videos and you’re a longstanding part of my life

I support the patreon to support Dan in his creative endeavors, whatever they may be. I enjoy nearly all of his content, however I would love some kind of consistent podcasts, even if it's only once a month. Listening to Dan ramble and/or discuss things he loves is in a weird way quite relaxing for me, as I share a lot of views with him. I hope you guys at nerdcubed can keep doing what you love, but if podcasts are part of that, that'd be awesome! And get some guests on! I will keep donating whatever you end up doing however.

Renzo Wijngaarden

To the best of my knowledge he was unfortunately layed off along with Tracey as Nerdcubed Ltd wasn't making enough money to pay them.

Ash Montgomery

Personally I'd love to see a revamped podcats, or maybe something else like Fuck Yeah Doctor Who.

Ash Montgomery

What happened to Wot Fanar?

I give money to support the Youtube channel. I know that youtube money is inconsistent and the content I mostly enjoy is when Dan seems to be enjoying himself. I've been watching on and off for 6 or 7 years and I hope that content continues to be produced in some form. I loved the tests series and the one off of games that Dan enjoys.

I want the podcats back. If it does com back I'll go to the $5 tier. Don't really mind what's new on the channel, the existing videos are more than enough for me. Thanks!

I first subscribed to Nerdcubed due to the youtube videos. However since then he's become a lot more than just that. I like the live streams although I am able to catch very few of them living in the US due to work. The edited videos are the best part of Nerdcubed, but I completely understand that youtube has gone to shit and twitch is where the money is at. I preordered his book and I'll support Dan in whatever endeavor he chooses. He's one of the best personalities out there.

Also, I'll be staying here even if you stop youtube!

Sam

So I'm only halfway through the podcast, where you guys are talking about how you work better with creative games. I totally agree. Literally the first video I ever watched of yours, and the one that got me hooked on your content, was the first Overgrowth video you made way early on. That game allowed you to be creative, and you fucked around a little bit. It's games like that that you need. Blade and Sorcery is a really good one for you, Just Cause is the same way, pretty much any game like that. Another that I want to mention is Risk of Rain 2, I don't know if you've seen anything about it, but it definitely allows for a degree of creativity. Also, as someone who loves The Binding of Isaac, it's a similar type of dungeon crawler type of thing, except you can endlessly loop worlds and go for hours just finding more loot and becoming a god. Worth checking out even though it's still in early access, and they have a major content update coming this month. I think what most of your base can agree on is we like whatever you like doing, and we'll watch all of that content. Personally, I'd watch it anywhere you upload, not just youtube and twitch, if another platform comes into play anytime soon. Just keep up the good work, and I can't wait for the book!

Sam

Consistent Patreon Podcasts would be nice.

Christopher Fong

The weird videos are great. I'm one of those people who don't watch livestreams.

Christopher Fong

I started supporting on Patreon because of the funny edited videos that made me laugh out loud more than any other YouTuber. The "off-the-cuff" humor in these podcasts and more recent YouTube videos is what keeps me around, especially when you're not playing the game as intended. I don't watch the Twitch live streams very much because they are long and most of the content is reading live comments and Twiddlies. I'd be happy with less frequent but content-rich videos. Short game recommendation videos are good (Some of my favorite games are due to your recommendations). The weekly news recap idea is also very interesting.

Charles Rowe

In line with other comments i'll also reveal the reason im suporting you Dan, and that reason is that i think you have some wise and interesting thoughts about things you discuss, i've followed some of your stuff on and off for quite a few years now and most importantly because you are a very entertaining person. Just like some other previous youtube heavy weighters (thinking about you TotalBiscuit, bless you) you have a phenomenal personality from what you portray to your audience. That is reason enough for me to tag along!

"You look like a dribble of spunk!" and that is why I support you 😂

Andyface

I'll be honest, I pay cos I like the podcasts you do on Patreon.

Mark Fletch

I watch and pay you because your make me laugh, so as long as I can get a couple laughs once in a while and go back to watch it again later, I'm happy. Seriously, you can reliably make me laugh. If I'm having a really bad day, I can pull out the MS Flight Simulator X video (the one with "Attempt # ") and be laughing at the end of it. Every time. Also, if you put up that torrent, I'll seed it. I'll upscale my NAS if I have to, but I'll do it.

Thomas and Lydia Wodarek

Another trend I've noticed is the delivery of your jokes is often more funny if it's in the moment (or a re-take of an in the moment joke)

Stan Gaskell

Also, do you think you could either reopen the nerd³ servers, or at the very least release the save files for our nostalgia?

Stan Gaskell

I love your videos, I don’t have the time for streams but a highlights reel I’d watch! I also love the podcasts that’s why I pay

Oh also stop teasing secret projects when most of them never seem to work out e.g the games you were making I’d much rather you just surprised announced something when it’s done or were at least discussing what the project is, making it secret really builds it up in people’s heads as to what it could be

I started watching and giving on patreon because you made funny edited videos, through all of your reboots and new ideas your funniest videos have always been you fucking around in a game and then editing it. I get that you want to do other stuff but as you yourself have always admitted you are funniest when you make plays videos, and that includes the weird ones you did after one reboot. Also the reason the desert bus video has so many views because it is essentially a podcast you really should bring back the podcats in some form. Or even more podcasts with Mike Bithell or in that style of you going through a tv show e.g the good place you could easily do it with Rebecca or Matt.

The podcasts are what keep me paying. The doctor who reveiws where really fun, mostly by having a second person to discuss the content with.

Robert Farmer

I became a patron because I enjoy the comedy YouTube videos and wanted too repay the thousands of hours of entertainment that you have provided me.

The reason I joined patreon is because I wanna support you as much as I can. Just over 2 years ago my teacher recommended you to me and I started watching your Ark series. It made me laugh so much and I kind of forgot about everything that was going on around me. Your videos were my escape from the shit in my life. As soon as I found out I could give you money for making something that helped me so much, I was all onboard. Even if you stopped making them, I'd still give you the money because (even though it's not a lot) I feel like I owe you for unintentionally helping me at that really fucked up part of my life. Also, I really like the sound of your voice so these podcasts and livestream are good to have on in the background.

Siana Brooker

I joined the patreon for the podcast and extra videos that had to be scrapped. I really watch the channel for Dan's personality and comedy, so if a scripted thing was out each week, I'd be really happy with it

Originally I started backing to get access to the games. I have also bought the book. I barely interface with your content at this point, the last thing I watched of yours was the Comic Relief stream. I miss the collaborative podcasts (I’m so unique) and I think I just grew out of enjoying your style of YouTube videos, so I can’t even say this is my excuse for using Adblock at this point. If I came into financial trouble, this is only a dollar a month, so it would probably not be the first thing to go. I guess I’m still here because I’m holding out for more content that I might enjoy?

Rachel Wolfe

I just keep this patron cause I like the content here. Have for the last 8 years and always will

Evelyn

I'm contributing for all the stuff you put out, things like Twitch, the book, even more so than just Youtube, and all the secret projects yet to come, and basically I just want to help sustain you till you get to be a writer for Doctor Who :) . I also like hearing Dan ramble in to a microphone for an hour or two on a weekly basis. :)

George Farren

In terms of videos for the channel, my personal favorite videos had aleays been either 1. Somewut scripted and 2. Really wierd/interesting.

Rebecca River Moon

I always had a soft spot for three free games friday, no idea why. Haven't been watching recent videos which is weird for me given how long I've been watching for. Always good to watch a funny plays or weird video but mainly I'm excited for ""Secret projects"". Keep up the good work -Addison

Addison Reilly

You've mentioned making a video editing tutorial series in the past, why not instead some sort of commentary/editing breakdown style of video? You know a fuckton about all that shenanigans and you've previously expressed a desire to share that knowledge, could also be a great opportunity for jokes for at least a couple of videos before you run out of genre jokes.

Bloojay

I've stopped watching pretty much all lets play content on YouTube in favor of video essays. I'm here because I liked the podcats (for which you are a moron for nixing you moron) so I'm here for the patreon podcast. Though I am quite annoyed you take like a month off at a time and I don't get podcasts

Bloojay

Personally, I'm not able to watch many livestreams and don't typically watch the later upload. I watch all of your main and toys channels videos and need to catch up on dadcubed's channel. However, I'm here on Patreon to support you because I can't do it on YT alone anymore, though I hope my YT red/premium/whatever helps too. I hope you keep doing YT in some way shape or form, but I also understand that you have to have a creative outlet. I do also enjoy the podcast and the "peek behind the curtain".

Lt Data

In recent months, if not years, the Patreon podcasts have been my favourite ‘content’ by far, super looking forward to the book though and Ashens 2. Love the rambling talking about whatever (news, games, films, the book). It’s just pure Dan, doesn’t rely on whether a game is good and it’s just nicer than the stop-start nature of a twitch stream. More podcasts please!

I just saw your Twitter nuke itself, and from what I understand you’re leaving your YouTube channel. Without twitter I don’t know if you’re killing your twitch as well, but if you are I just wanted to say you’ve been so utterly brilliant and lovely. You have been a continual source of positivity through depression, PTSD, two engagements, half a dozen relationships, two colleges, probably my entire professional career, and so much more. I’m really torn up about losing your influence in my life, but I genuinely hope whatever comes next is nothing but the best; so from all of your critters, procrastinators, and fans, goodbye our raggedy man.

Anthony Phillips

I have always loved the long road trips, compleats, and things where you get to be creative never cared much for news type stuff but that's just me. Anything, where you build stuff, is great and the top gear type personality you have with Jon and Matt would be great to see more of. Series I personally always go back and rewatch are Roller coaster tycoon/planet coaster, fallout. farcry, simulators, Best of playlist, Indie plays, minecraft buildy thingy, all the sims shit you’ve done, saints row 2, the tubecast Theme Hospital, dungeon keeper and classic cubed (around 2012 give or take) Edit: Challenge videos how could i forget them best ones are the Carmageddon series. Oh and the space engineers permadeath. Hard time.

Dylan Harrison

I personally think micropayments are the way to go. I would happily carry on with my $1/month even if I thought your content sucked or I didn't have time to watch for a year

h3.

I think, as long you are healthy and have a good mental state, It doesn't matter what type of videos you put out, as if you make it they will come. Also with the news videos, are you just doing gaming news or will you cover other types of news like political for example?

The Doctor

I give you guys money because I fucking love you, do whatever you want with it. (But maybe do a little YouTube)

ok heres the thing i think i've wached so much of your shit that i feel like i still owe you for the many hours of entertainment. I like the edited shit cus youre damn good at the cut jokes. weird shit is best shit. xxxxx

Stellar Star

I will follow Dan anywhere he goes. I have periods where I binge youtube but usually its old stuff. I have listened to more podcasts and watched more streams than youtube. I supported the last book massively and will do with the next. Basically, whatever you guys make I'll follow unless I become homeless.

Dylan Harrison

My £1/$1/whatever is to replace the adsense that you would have got from my views on YouTube if they still gave you money. I figured that it's probably more than just my views got you, so you get more, and £1 on its own is of little significance to me, so I don't mind. When the Podcats ended, and you said there would be audio stuff here, I was happy to sign up for that! Since I started you've given me a good number of great podcasts, a book that I'm looking forward too, some good streams (I don't watch many, it depends on my mood and the game you're playing...) so I'm happy to keep this going if it allows you to do something new.

Chris G

I pay to keep Matt in a job, and because regardless of what you do whether its YouTube or twitch your creating a space where people are excepted for who they are (as long as they aren't fuck sticks) and too me that's worth paying for.

ben charlesworth

but only 400 blurays

Craig (CraigUntlNytTym) Penfold

I don't watch your twitch stuff (I don't have the patience) or your second channel stuff (I find it boring), so I patreon for your main channel vids, podcasts, and the various projects which you claim to be doing. My only thing for the kinds of vids I prefer is that I enjoy them a lot more when you enjoy the game (this isn't some kind of empathy thing, they're genuinely more enjoyable), I really disliked the hell series.

Jaxom

i love all of dans creative endeavours

Craig (CraigUntlNytTym) Penfold

I give money to continue Youtube videos as Youtube won't support them. I prefer the funny, heavily edited videos. If you quit youtube I would probably stop my patreon support. I enjoy the other content, I just don't find it as valuable to me. If my financial situation improves, I will increase my patreon contribution.

At this point I pledge for the podcast and everything else is gravy. I always loved challenge videos because it goes beyond 'here's a game and some jokes'.

Dylan Evans

I give you money to let you do WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU WANT

Dan, I love you, but this shift to Twitch means I never watch you anymore. I understand the Youtube hate for you as a creator, but Twitch sucks ass for a viewer for anything but spontaneously dropping in...if you happen stream right then. It's literally impossible to dedicate my life to follow livestreams. Which is where you seem to do interesting stuff lately, like checking out new stuff. (except the book, looking forward to that). Like you said, time is finite. Not only yours.

Mattias Inghe

I pledge for the patreon podcast.

Azeria

I pledge to support from the Youtube side. (That is all.)

Patrick Hogg

Regarding news, sounds like a super quick Quick + recommendation combination + News and honestly pretty good :) I'd like to watch that as I just can't be fucked to read long news posts and stuff so a semi scripted Dan-humour news would be great, a little worrying that we're about to hit mid-year games drought but the coming end of this console cycle and how it appears to be a bit weird compared to normal could be interesting for a bit? Have you considered anyone you've not collabed with previously for future stuff? RTGame seems like a really nice dude alongside CallMeKevin. The Spiffing Brit seems also cool. Saying that, scrolling through my subs I'm struggling to find anyone not already in the N3 'family' honestly.

gogglebot

I love the buildy things and also the complete where dan just create the story himself (kind of like the fallout 4 series. btw chloe story is the real story of fallout 4 for me)(a cyberpunk completes seem fun(just thinking about it I'm so HYPED)) You provided me with fun videos since I was 14 for free now 24 I'll gladly pay you so you keep making stuff

I’m a Patreon because I’ve watched you for years and I know YouTube is shit now. The content I liked the most is the countless hours you spend fucking around in creative games like Planet Coaster or House Flipper. I would love to see more things like that on streams! Or you shitting on games with Nerd Hell. The funny is what brought me in. The countless hours of watching you place lanterns is what made me stay.

I fund you because Nerdcubed has been a major constant in my developmental years and I need to keep hearing Dan's voice to keep me calm and if it goes away I will sink into a hole.

Douglas Hodgson

Your views on YouTube are understandable and fully justified. I think many, like me, will feel that we don't want to lose your back catalog, as older videos still bring us a great amount of joy. I'd love to see more creative videos alongside slower paced games that challenge your skill level (e.g. Train Simulator) - the two would balance out well in terms of attraction for the audience, and showing different sides of your character (particularly your humour)

Tom Spencer

So, I donate on patreon because I have been a fan of yours (and Matt's don't fire him (#FireLeech)) and I want to support whatever you're doing - if that ended up being something like TV writing or whatever I'd still support you provided you didn't completely neglect Patreon - I love the podcasts and little bits of book etc. That being said, the content I love the most from you is either the Plays videos, especially when you don't know the game and we get your genuine first reactions, as well as long form videos of you playing games you love (e.g. Prison Architect). Maybe you could bring back some of your old IRL type stuff too - I'm sure you have your reasons for no longer doing that but they were ace. Big fan of the Nerd³ News podcast you used to do too. Most of all, I would prefer you were doing what you feel happy with not what we want; after all we're only donating because we care about you and the company. If you stick around I might even make another birthday video for ya.

Stan Gaskell

Side note: you would need 2000 DVDs to store all of your videos.

Stan Gaskell

What have I enjoyed most over the five or six years of following you? Your personal and raw commentary on the games you're playing, and the state of games in general. Your unabashed joy when games are good and rage when games are bad. I rather like the idea of shorter, more concise sub-10m videos including news and first impressions, but would still like to see 20-30 min playthroughs of games that deserve it. I'm all for less time spent generating and editing content for YouTube seeing as it's a dead platform, but I don't want it to go away. It's still the #1 place for me to enjoy your work. 2-3 vids a week would be enough for me. And I will continue to support you on Patreon because I know my main platform for your content isn't supporting you.

I really enjoy the creative videos where Dan builds things. An occasional (like once a month) series of Nerdcubed Builds.... (whatever fun build-y game you feel like making a thing in) would be fun. I also enjoy the silly weird stuff. The news idea is great. I’m always looking for recommendations (which is why I’m thoroughly enjoying the Switched series) and having an idea of upcoming games and announcements would be great. Also, have you looked into Crowfall? I don’t know if that’s up your alley, but I thought it looked interesting (and I love the art style.)

Jennifer Farr

I really like the sound of a news style show. I do like knowing what's going on in the gaming world and to be told highlights in a compact format by your good self would be an enjoyable way to hear about that. Guests would be cool too. It's almost like you'd be doing a podcast... And talking about games... You could even drop the 's' from podcast... Other stuff that I've enjoyed over the years: Far Cry 3 permadeath, entertaining, fun, tense, super enjoyable and I still mean to rewatch it at some point. Some VR vids have been great, like Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, Blade and Sorcery etc. but really can't do many of each before they get dull. The scripted vids like Nerdcubed's friends were really cool. I always liked FW, I think you showing off a game you've played more of and really like is better than first impressions. Collabs, whether it be with Dadcubed, Jon, MattIsNotJump, Martyn, obviously it's easy to make those fun to both do and watch. The occasional road trip. Quick was cool but I get how much work it took. I give money purely because of how much entertainment I've got from the channel over the years and how much of an influence it's had on my gaming habits etc. and unless you did something very negative I doubt I'd ever stop giving.

Mike Jones

I really enjoy everything you make, (particularly your long form rambling podcasts because of your incredible voice), but one thing I would like is more visibility of the streaming schedule, as I’ve seen a glimpse of it once but then have never been able to find it again. Other than that, I’ll keep watching whatever you put out!

I support you and 1 other person, barry kramer, just for who you are and making me happy a lot. I like most videos you do, but the best ones are the ones you just loved making and the goofs involved. The occasional video together with other people are also very fun, I just like them because of your humor and chemistry with the others. I really don't care if you don't make a lot or very few, or just leave youtube all together, I'll support all you do <3

I completely understand why you feel the need to review your position, today is my 10 year anniversary as a game dev and I've been going through the same thing. I happily give you money via this platform. Twitch only would make it harder for me to watch you're content but I would try catch what I can. I love the shorter videos cause I can watch then between meetings at work.

Kim Clarke

Honestly. I just love the podcast. That's the whole reason why i'm subscribed. I love everything that Dan creates, so it doesn't really bother me what you upload, because i know that it'll be good -- as long as you're enjoying it -- the twitch things sad, because i would love to watch one live, but i never get the chance to. Luckily you have the live youtube channel

Rhys connell

I mostly contribute for the plays videos and my favourite content is any of Dan's videos with trains in!

🧑🏻‍💻 Ben Cooper 🧑🏻‍💻

I know I’m just shouting into the void But PODCATS!!!

William Henry Charles Archer Sandy

Bit late to the party but I thought I'd answer your questions. I think my favourite stuff of yours has been the weird stuff in the past year, the Destiny 2 video being a favourite of mine. The quick series has been really good but I can completely understand you wanting to get out of the hindenburg that is youtube. I think I give money to support all of your content because god knows youtube isn't. I also love the patreon podcasts so that's a nice bonus.

While I haven't really noticed the uprising of the Fourth Reich you keep talking about, there a lot of wankers on Youtube and there's no use to keep swimming in a sea of cum if it isn't bringing you any closer to the shore. Maybe it's better to get on a boat and sail of in to the horizon.

Mathieu Marlaire

I've been giving money purely to support all the projects. In terms of videos I've always enjoyed the long talky videos, like the road trips and planet coaster. Some of the funniest content has always been you both with Jon, the three of you work together brilliantly. Though I'm always gonna give the money whatever you do

drew farr

I give money to support anything and everything. Books, Streams, Videos, Games...whatever. I like what you peeps create and so happy to give money for it :)

Harmelodic

But in all seriousness, having followed the Nerd3 channel for a crazy long time (6-7 years maybe?) I've also grown with it and out of the whole youtube thing. Moving on from youtube feels like a pretty natural step at this point and im all here for it.

Kelly Talvistu

I give money on patreon to keep Matt fed.

Kelly Talvistu

I support you here on patreon and in about every other endeavor that you do because I genuinely like the person you are. Through the many reboots and experimental videos (the entire planet coaster series at once being one of my favorites) you are endlessly creative, unique, and really funny. What every you end up doing in the future I will continue to support you because I really enjoy everything you put out. With the expansions into writing and other secret projects, I can't wait to see what you do next. I love the edited videos like the Saturday ones now, and I also love a lot of the completes series. You make really interesting stuff, and I'll continue to keep supporting you and your work in any way I can!

I throw money at the Patreon because I enjoy the content. I used to watch the livestreams but had a disagreement with Amazon so don't use twitch anymore, the live channel on youtube means I can still enjoy the streams though. I also enjoy the patreon podcast, I'd like to think there'll be more books or similar in the future so keeping the lights on in the mean time is a good thing. Kidnap Jon and make all videos podcats!

David

I pay money cause I just enjoy the content you make. From streams to videos, I really just enjoy all of it. I really enjoy the personality of the videos as well as the humor of the videos.

ZoomZoom0

I've been following since 2012 or so, I started supporting the patreon since it opened as I could turn adblock back on with a clean conscience. I upped my pledge to $2 because of the weird videos from the last reboot, which I think are more art than gaming videos. I always look forward to the saturday videos because I know it's going to be weird. I would love to see those crazy weird videos again, even if it's only every couple of weeks once of month, whenever.

Also I appreciate matt's hamilton song

Jellex

Nerdcubed Direct That is all.

Jellex

I've been a patron since this was launched. When it started I was supporting for the youtube videos and the game development. When games were put on hold, I kept supporting because of youtube. Now I find I don't super enjoy the switched videos, I think because they just feel low effort to me. I'm supporting still because the amazing occasional weird video is still worth it, and I want to support the writing. Oh and also the Toys videos are one of my favorite things on youtube. I feel like if the youtube channel turned into a few weird videos, and toys videos I would happily keep supporting.

Miranda Walker

i started watching this channel back in Early 2011. Since then you have been my favorite channel/person/people i know. I make sure i support you in every venture. I backed your book to signed, support here, and sub to you on twitch. I give you money cus i love you guys and want to see your lives continue and grow. I've always loved your saturday series and your complete series the most but i love everything you guys do. Thank you for keeping this going.

Alyssa Gordon

I've been following everything you've done since your first Portal 2 video (4/2/12). You have been the only consistent thing in my life, I've moved to the other side of the planet and I continued to watch your content. Due to university I don't have time to allocate 2-3 hours to watching your streams. So I’ve only been watching your youtube channels ever since I started university. That being said I love listening to your podcasts while studying, bring back the tubecast / podcats. As for ideas on what to do in the future, maybe you could take the same approach as UpIsNotJump or SmarterEveryDay and upload one highly edited creative video a week/fortnight. And if you still have time the upload the news style (Knee-Jerk) videos in between. I can’t promise that I’ll continue to watch your videos if you move solely to twitch style long form factor streams. But I’ll keep supporting on here as long as you make the podcast.

I mostly listen these days. I listen to the streams after they get uploaded to YouTube, but I'm never going to be around for a live stream. Time never works. I kind of treat them like podcasts I guess? So I donate to thank you for the entertainment and for the years I watched without paying anything. That’s always going to be there. And you mentioned the Desert Bus vid, I’ve listened to that multiple times. I don’t know why it’s hilarious but it is. It is a lot to do with the three of you. The Sea of Thieves recently was great in the same way. I like the news type idea, I’d definitely enjoy that. Would doing a podcast series with research behind it satisfy the creative need? I mean, if you stop creating content of any kind all together I’ll probably stop donating, but it’s going to require that I think. So no worries there.

As to an idea for content there was something I have been talking to a few friends about recently that think would suit the podcats trio - a 'Hot potato' challenge. This involves taking a game and each taking it in turns to play X amount of time in it BUT all using the same save file - So as it becomes each players turn they have to live with the decisions of the players before them. It works really well with a creative games, but could work for story driven ones as well (imagine not knowing who the other characters in the world are but your character already has a relationship with them ) - I have done it once in a group of 4 sharing a Cities Skylines Save. However if Dan, Matt & Jon were to find this interesting the game I would want to see hem do it with would be - Prison Architect. The rules would be simple a set number of loops sharing the save - but all playing knowing that the series finale is that they will all record an episode trying to escape from that final version of the prison. This would mean that in all of the main episodes each will be both trying to build in things they can use to thier advantage but having to do it in ways that the others wont spot, while also trying to royally fuck over the others by making the place as escape proof as possible. This would work for the group as well as it doesn't require all three people in the group to be available at the same time

Yeah money is more of a, you make interesting shit here is a tip (as its the twitch prime sub even if im rarely about to catch actual streams due to work)

I give you money for everything you make and plan to do in the future, whether it’s on Youtube or through any other medium. I’m really excited about the books and hope to one day see a movie or TV series written by you. As for what you’ve done in the past, my favourites have always been the long talky stuff like Planet Coaster, podcasts or the road trips, and highly edited stuff like the Heists or the mad shit after the last big reboot. Also anything that allows you to create a story, from Minecraft to Tiny Town VR. I just love your comedy, and I love your creative style. If you only make one very high quality video a month, or even a year, I’ll still be perfectly fine with that. Honestly, as long as there’s any chance you’ll release anything in the future, I’ll keep supporting you.

ICE Trance

Also I'm a weirdo in that I found you through Emma Blackery, and I don't care that much about gaming. My favourite things you've ever done are probably podcats and the fusterclucks and stuff where Dan has people to show off to (also the others are funny too, I guess, hi Matt). Obviously that stuff is a scheduling nightmare, but I do still go back and rewatch those vods pretty regularly.

Emma Jacob

my favorite stuff right now are the podcasts... make 1 video a month whatever. you'll get my 2 bucks until forever.

Xavier Allegaert

At first I'd have said I support you for the videos, but then you started being all vague about a whole bunch of secret projects that you sounded really excited about, and I realised I will probably continue to be a Patron even if you stopped with YouTube and Twitch entirely.

Lewis Dawn

I'm not giving money for the videos, I'm giving money because youtube have fucked you over, also I just think you're a good egg

Emma Jacob

I give money cause Dan makes good shit, so I plan on giving him money no matter what

My absolute favorite videos were the Saturday series. I personally would love it if we could have super high quality and creative videos, even if we only got them once every few weeks.

I really loved the Saturday series with the strange concepts and heavily edited. I would prefer 1 really great video a week (like the saturday series or the Quick series) and the rest of the week streaming on some days. And of course the special videos like roadtrips :)

speedcoaster

I love the switch videos! I bought one because of them! Also do whatever you love to do!

I give money to finance the project of you not starving Dan. But I’m also a Patreon supporter for the podcasts you sometimes release and the off chance you’ll make another tv show review podcast, which are FUCKING AMAZING!!! Please do more

Alex Bonilla

Ive been a supporter of your stuff since the minecraft buildy thingies. I dont necessarily watch a lot of your stuff anymore as, like Matt was saying, Ive grown up a lot and interests change and what have you. But I tend to still agree and enjoy listening to Dan talk about things on these podcasts and I will ocassionally sit and watch a stream. The most important thing is that you've given me so many great memories over the years that I want to give back in any way I can and I want you to succeed. I would donate a lot more if I could but it's just not financially feasible. I just hope you can continue in the entertainment business and enjoy it to the point where you wont have to get a different job just to make ends meet. Hopefully by me giving a little it'll add up so you can keep doing what you love and when I have the money I really need a copy of that book!

I decided to support Dan on here just for the podcasts. I think they're really good content.

Lucy

Hello Been a fan for a couple of years now. My favourite videos by far are the VR videos. Most of all the Nerdcubed Friends video with Mindshow, most because of the characters and jokes you created. I can go back and watch that video at anytime. But seeing as YouTube has become a massive blackhole I can't hold it against you to walk away. I'm happy to pay patreon simply for the podcast. And to help you complete you're other creative projects cause that's why I'm here. To support your creative life. I believe in it.

UnSafeStu

I've always supported Dan and the whole Nerdcubed team because you make me laugh. It doesn't matter if it's the videos, the streams or the upcoming book, you make me laugh. I watched you for free for years and this is a way of giving back.

Alexander Lewis

I started because of youtube but recently twitch has been better (I'm also subbed there). But I would really love stuff like the early Saturday series stuff

Birchwood

When it come's to YouTube I'd say just stick to a weekly edited video, and Toys videos (as many as you can!) Everything else, recommending games, completing games etc. can be handled by Twitch (the schedule is a really good idea btw). Although I'm a big enough fan of you guys that even if you quit and fucked off I'd have my money's worth in backlog :P

Narmatonia

Hi guys, here's some more text to read! I've always watched Dan's content for the quality and comedy, it is never a strain to watch, unlike some videos. YouTube needs to wake the hell up and decide what it is doing, feels like they are happy to shoot themselves in the foot. If you do ever leave, all I can suggest is take as many popular youtubers as you can with you to make a point, and take the platform down as you exit in a blaze of glory, and leave youtube to rot with the crap content they looked for. Find another platfom that cares more, and stick to patreon for financial support as long as it can support the effort.

Conor Moran

Personally I really love the creative stuff. Watching Dan spend 3 hours placing bushes is remarkably relaxing. And the collab's with Jon and Matt, please find more ways to trap Jon in perdition (or just another endless death-loop).

Christopher Walker

Honestly the reason I stay on Patreon is for the occasional Patreon podcast and update- I like hearing your ramblings. As for the channel I’ve always loved your storytelling videos and series. I subbed to the channel however many years ago because I loved how you created your own tiny stories and persona in Minecraft about a god that hates ducks and a mad man building a Tardis, and then I binged on the Sims 3 series where you created Kennith Kennithson and Roller Coaster Tycoon where you even took the time to name Jeff the Shark. Since then my favorite videos have been the Sims 4 video, the FaceRig video and the Tiny Towns video. However, I also love the ones that are basically just podcasts. I’ve listened to the Road Trips so many times- way more than a lot of the game videos honestly. I used to watch Soup the hour it went up too for the same reason. So I guess I agree with everything you said, in short...

Katelyn Campbell

Throwing in my two cents here, I've liked Dan's videos for a long time, which is why I'm supporting here, I liked the idea of him being free to create stuff that he likes, and that I enjoy, so direct financial help seems like a good way to do that. That said, I'm not as big a fan of the twitch streams. It rarely works for me to see them live, and I think the format isn't as enjoyable for me as edited videos. That said, I recognize the fact that it's a tough decision for what to do, but I generally have faith in Dan, and appreciate his work highlighting cool weird games, and also working to create an inclusive space for everyone. I look forward to supporting what comes next

That Other Person

Honestly the reason I give money is just because I love your content, and Twitch Prime is cheating anyway :P But nah seriously, in terms of the content I enjoy, it's mainly the more weird stuff? Facerig, the Crew roadtrip, etc. If I were to ask for anything specific it might be collabs, just because they're fun, even though I know they're a pain to coordinate. That and the free game stuff? Just because it was what drew me to the channel in the first place. ALSO MAKE A CELESTE VIDEO.

Isla Edmond

I came for the YouTube videos. I stayed for the cool Experimental Stuff. Honestly anything Dan puts out that has passion behind it I'm in.

What we watch for is Dan, Not the subject matter. As long as dan can be himself in his content, we're happy. When he is happy it comes through. We do like the collabs when they happen too. Also more doggos ;)

Zumigal

I love everything you do, that’s why I support you here. I think if you looked at the TechLinked channel and see how they do their quick bits might be a good idea for a short news thing.

Darythe Hill

My money is given to you to support literally anything you need it for. If that is for YouTube, New Equipment, Wages, Lego, Food or health. I give my money to help everything you have done for me since i was 9. Im Now 16!

Alister Magnus Gray

I literally watched 99% of all your videos. I been watching them since literally the l your first game video. I even watch majority of twitch stream usually after you stream them. If you tell me what and where you are doing I honestly will follow. I been watching you ten years and I plan to watch you until I die

Joseph Howard

2. My favourite content is the creative stuff that Dan does, like planet coaster and cities skylines.

Dylan Parry

1. I support the patreon for the podcast. also because dan is my favourite online personality.

Dylan Parry

Just saw Tristan’s comment and I realised I may of missed a couple questions. The first video I ever saw of you was “amnesia” but I only started watching, watching when you took a break 3-5 years ago for personal reasons I don’t know. And during your break I watched most of your videos, INCLUDING THE VLOGS. And ever since than I have been watching and have supported you once I saw you had a patreon. I backed the book pretty late on, at around 500% ( also wtf 1000% ) I don’t normally catch streams since it ain’t really my thang. But when I did catch a stream I always enjoy it when either it’s a play through or if you’re with Matt or Rebecca ( mostly Rebecca, f Matt ) One thing before I wrap. I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR THE HAPPY WHEELS VIDEO. I WENT BACK TO TRY WATCH THAT DAMN VIDEO PROBABLY 16 TIMES BEFORE I SAW THE DATE ( APRIL 1 ) GOD DANN YOU!!!!!! ..looking forward to the book. Boi bye

Scott

i give u money to support you making stuff! any stuff! cool stuff!

elis one l

Personally I give money to support dan/ Rebecca maybe Matt. And I watch all the videos but some of the switch reviews, seeing as I don’t really use my switch any more. However if you were to stop YouTube I would get my daily dose of Daniel off twitch. Hope that answers matts questions, I fell asleep and not sure if I remember right. Anyway bye bye looking forward to the book! 🙏

Scott

I support you. Dan (and matt) i support what you create. Ive had the book backed since july. Im goin to back the next book when i have the money. I can never catch the streams because of college and work but i do enjoy rewatching them. I fell inlove with the old plays videos. The old VR ones the ship. All the simulators. Visera clean up detail is one of my favourites. I support you, rebecca, matt, and all the 'children' in the house. I speak of a lot of people when we say the older videos are funnier. Your stil funny but not in the same way. I hope this helps UPDATE News videos sound fun. The Daily knee jerks were my favourite video. That a week would be amazing.

Brad

If you enjoy streaming then you could do something similar to RT game and do stream highlights cut down a lot. Also a news video would be cool

I’ve been a massive fan of everything you’ve created since I started watching your videos five or so years ago. Almost every new thing you try is my favourite thing yet, and watching you develop over the years has been an immense pleasure. I’ll be supporting you for quite a long time, Matt or no Matt.

Tristan Stubbs

Dan, everything that has come out of your brain so far has made me laugh. I love going back to that desert bus video because I crack up everytime. I think your best work happens when you do the weird shit (like Pokémon, omg how fucking hilarious was that) and when you do things with Matt and/or Jon. The banter that comes with you guys is incredible. So long as you don’t become a nazi, I’ll continue to support and consume everything you do.

Max Tal

As long as you keep making videos/streams in some manner I will keep supporting you, I think a lot of us are probably more here for you (and the stuff with Jon and/or Matt) than any specific type of content. As for YouTube, I would say fuck it and concentrate on other platforms like Twitch or even some of the new ones that seem to be popping up, à la Floatplane.

Onneyon

I don't know when I started watching your Stuff, it's definitely quite a long time ago (before Little&Cubed), and there were times when I had lost interest (and stopped being a patreon). But what me made come back almost always were the adventury-stuff. The Desert Busses and Road trips, the Permadeath series, the recent Sea of Thief's livestream and such. Those are the anchors (but obviously not the single thing) of me staying and enjoying you for all those years.

Floergie

I support you on Patreon for funny YouTube videos as I dont generally have time to watch the live streams. I'll still continue to support you even if you wind down YouTube as you've already given me hundreds of hours of fun and laughter!

Corian

I just give money here for you and what your doing, so you can keep doing the things you want to do, like the book. As for what content I want to see, I don't really mind. I'm happy with a massive planet coaster stream every day

I just give money here for you and what your doing, so you can keep doing the things you want to do, like the book. As for what content I want to see, I don't really mind. I'm happy with a massive planet coaster stream every day

Okay, so I have and always will support Dan through whatever he does. The fact that he’s willing to change and experiment and do new things is always what’s kept him as my favourite person on YouTube. That being said, the plays videos have always been my favourite, and I’m definitely more here for the comedy. And these quick news videos... don’t sound funny. They sound like Dan’s tired and can’t be bothered any more, but still has to put out videos because it’s what he’s always done and it’s what he has to do to maintain his business. Dan isn’t who I come to for news. I go to Jim Sterling for news, or occasionally Kotaku UK or VERY Occasionally Polygon. I like Dan to witter and ramble, that’s why I love the podcasts so much. It’s why I’m looking forward to the book, because I assume it’s going to be that but in written form. I’ve watched Dan since Little and Cubed began, I’ve supported the patreon since the very first day, and after all that time, I just get the feeling that doing these news videos wont be able to keep Dan’s interest for long. I love the Twitch streams, I catch them when I can, but I honestly prefer watching them back on the livestream channel in my own time, so I can pause them and not miss anything. I don’t know if any of these opinions/thoughts help much, but at the end of the day I want Dan to be doing what fulfil’s him the most, because that usually ends up being his best stuff. I don’t want him to wear himself out doing something he doesn’t enjoy.

Great Saxtonian

I don’t give much, but I give a bit because I really used to love watching your videos Dan, and the old podcast a few years back was fantastic etc etc. And watching the decline has been saddening so thought I’d download Patreon and give what I can :)

Javs

For me I like the idea of the news stream but I have enjoyed the twitch streams being on Youtube also. Some of the stuff I have loved is the stuff that is Dan, Matt and Jon as first thing I saw was the Star Trek VR and that was some of the funniest things I have seen.

Joe Page

First of all, I will continue to support you on Patreon as long as you continue making stuff and aren't a nazi. Second, my favourite videos of yours have always been the completes series. My introduction to you was the Cities Skylines completes, then later down the road the Saints Row 2 completes was the one thing that I looked forward to during an incredibly dark time for me. But if you want to do that stuff on Twitch I think it would be better due to my next point. It's been obvious for a long time you've given up on Youtube. For a long time now it's been obvious you've been phoning in the videos, and I can only assume it's because you don't really care about Youtube anymore. So if you prefer Twitch, and are more excited about Twitch, I think that would result in better content. I'll always be nostalgic for the old completes series though. I still enjoy watching the old ones. I also really love the colab videos with Matt And Jon. I hope you can keep doing stuff with them, be it on Youtube or Twitch. But given the shit that's happening with that Vox journalist on Twitter, I also wouldn't blame you if you said fuck Youtube, fuck Susan, fuck Google, and left.

Also, it would likely be a good idea to get yourself on the GoodReads author program

Gentle Grudge

Although, while it's a toss up if I'll watch something 2-4 hours long, judging by Desert Bus VR and the comic relief streams, once something gets absurdly long, I will watch it (eventually) and I will love it.

Tom Chaney

Great podcast, it's fun to have Matt around from time to time. It is perfectly understandable that you want to get as far away from YouTube as humanly possible. While there is still a lot of great stuff on it, it's public image is a never ending extremist garbage fire. I admire that you want to reboot the channel again, instead of just abandoning it. It's a shame that twitch doesn't allow for video uploads any more. As for the ideas for the reboot, I like the idea for the news videos. Keep it short, keep it mostly positive (with only some "x company said something stupid, let's laugh at them"), and I think that could work. I hope you keep making weird videos. Videos between September-December 2017 (the weird period) was in my opinion the best stuff you've ever done. Even if not regularly, please make more of those. I don't like the idea of having the news on Saturdays. I think you should leave Saturdays for weird stuff, and have the news on Friday or Sunday. Also, if you're making them audio only and Matt adds the visuals, can we have them in a podcast feed format? Maybe for patrons only? To answer your questions, why am I supporting you on here? It's a combination of multiple things: It's a form of gratitude for the many years of fun videos, but also I care about the stuff you made, make and might make in the future. Even if the videos stop, I'll keep supporting you. The only thing that I do want from you is to keep the podcast. They don't have to be on a schedule, as long as we get 2-3 a month. And maybe a bit less secrecy. I know you don't want to announce things, but you've been hinting at secret projects for about year, and we're still in the dark about what it is.

Titusz Ban

For what it's worth a) I really enjoy the Smash Brother co-op, I was hoping to see that continue. b) I don't care whether or not I have access to the game, watching the video is entertainment in itself. c) The rapid roster rundown style/pokemon review style I find very entertaining, they are a worthy addition. "it's going to fail" That depends on how you measure success. It'll entertain at least thousands of people, which would constitute success for a lot of people!

Patrick Jackson

To answer your questions Matt, my favourite thing from you guys was the weird post-reboot stuff, I understand that stuff takes a lot of work, but a couple a year and I'd be very happy. Longer form stuff like Livestream archives and completes series can be fantastic, but they're such a time investment that it's totally unpredictable which ones will pique my interest. As for why I support you, it's mostly just that you all seem quite nice and I'm stressing to much about my own financial situation not to do a little bit to help out someone else's (I'd miss the podcasts where I to leave, but they weren't really a factor in deciding to support you in the first place).

Tom Chaney

Honestly, I think you should defiantly make YouTube the lowest priority of all. Like, maybe just keep the channel ticking over (the news video's would be a good way to do that) for if you have ideas for it, but at the end of the day I think you need to be in a position where if YouTube just literally vanished you'd still be good. I don't know what these other projects are obviously, but if you can support yourself without the channel then I would say you should. I mean, I always enjoyed watching you do a completes on a game I like, but if you intend to do those on twitch then honestly fuck it.

Well Read Nomad

As long as you'll still be uploading past livestreams somewhere i'm happy, because that's basically the only way I can watch the livestreams most of the time. That isn't the reason I donate through patreon though, so if you don't I won't suddenly stop supporting you on here

Bjorn van Dijk

To anyone reading through these comments, go put on "The Real Hero", soundtrack from Endgame. It's too perfect. Also don't look in the comments, because spoilers.

Rowan Mackenzie

I've long thought that Matt, Matt Gray and Matt Is Not Jump should do a series together (totally not because it sets a precedent for me to hang out with Tom Scott and Tomska, shh)

Tom Chaney

Alright well here's my two twiddlies on the matter. First of all, fuck YouTube. Put up one last video saying you're leaving and what's going on, and then just leave it. Have you noticed how many YouTubers stream on there instead of actually uploading stuff now? It really is a dying platform, so I'd say get out before it gets somehow worse. Of all those 2.6 million people, I'd say very few will follow you over to Twitch but that's their choice, I think after all the stress YouTube has put you through you need to just leave entirely, like you did with Reddit and stuff. You can still make videos, and then stream them before the start of actual streams, and that'll bypass the 'no twitch uploads' thing. In terms of what actual videos themselves, I wasn't a fan of Quick, I did like Switched, and I especially like just hearing you ramble on, which is why I enjoy the podcasts so much. The big long road trips are always fun to listen to, and the random shit like grading pokemon is great too. Honestly if you were to only do patreon podcasts and focus solely on writing your book, I'd still support you for that. PS: STOP TEASING US WITH THESE SECRET PROJECTS PPS: If you do end up losing patreons because you stop doing youtube videos, they are bastards and I will up my own level of support to help, as I'm sure many others will.

Rowan Mackenzie

I've been watching since the rollercoaster tycoon days. #JeffTheShark The reasons i support: - To support people in the team - Content such as: Podcasts, VR, Completes, anything creative like Planet Coaster/whatever the house builder game was called, the toys channel, livestreams such as the E3 group streams, content such as the primeminster game or such - Books! Scripts! Short skits if thats what you want to do! - I loved the news videos

Izlucey

I've been watching Dan since 2012 and am giving money to support any project he decides to do. I do not often have time to watch livestreams as university takes too much time but try to watch the vods of some of them when I get a chance - even if just in the background while working. Since starting to watch I have seen every single video put out on both the main channel and the second channel. My favourite videos have always been the really interesting creative ones (destiny 2, nerd³ friends etc) and any videos with Matt and Jon (I think the three of you are fantastically funny together). I also really enjoy the slower videos as well, I've often rewatched the road trips, the Henderson challenge video and houseflipper etc. I'm not particularly much of a gamer, I enjoy playing a game occasionally but I don't often have time to play but I love watching Dan I think he has real passion and wit and I watch all his videos still for him and his personality rather than the games themselves. I will continue to remain and support this patreon no matter what you plan on doing and I will continue to watch whatever is put out - YouTube as a medium isn't important to me I'm just happy to support however I can for any direction you choose to go in

Toni Santoyo McLeod

Hey, long-time watcher first-time commenter here. Only managed to sign up for this a month ago, so take this with a grain of salt compared to long-time donators. In a nutshell, I'm donating for you. Videos, streams, book, whatever; I like you as a person and what you do, and it's about time I paid some of that back. You make me laugh, think, learn and just promote being a good person, something that feels like it's becoming frustratingly rarer nowadays. As for content, weird wacky shit all the way - grading Pokemon, I Expect You to Die, Job Simulator, even longer-form stuff like the Henderson Challenge. And yes, I love Desert Bus VR; I don't know why! When you go outside the box and shoot the shit you absolutely hit it out of the park. As for personal wants (even if they count for nothing), as you're now focusing on streaming, I'd love massive WTF streams like Mass Debate/Fustercluck to come back - I adore those and still rewatch them today for the insanity they brought. Something about you in a collab just getting lost in the fun is so enjoyable to watch.

Have you considered trying to join FloatPlane?

I have watched you for a couple of years so I guess I am fairly new (ish). I give you a very small amount of money (it would be more if I could afford it) because I want to give something back to you. I enjoy your videos, streams, podcasts, ect. and I think if you enjoy something in this miserable life you have to make an effort to send feedback and appreciation to the creator. I love the toys videos. I love them that much that I go back and rewatch a lot of them from time to time. I also love the "I expect you to die" video. I would say that is one of my favourite videos on your main channel. I also enjoy the "series" videos, not necessarily the completes as my favourite series is either planet coaster or Jurassic park. Do what you wish to do. I will be there to watch it. Love you awesome people! P.S. Matt as always excellent hair lol

Georgina Ivey

Ok so here we go. Personally I watch you for your comedy, I love your rambling you're fun and entertaining. I also just like watching gameplay cos I love videogames but don't have the time to play them myself. I've never really watched you for any recommendations, sometimes if it's a big game that looks like I'll enjoy it and you give it loads of praise I will but that's it. So for me I just want you to keep being you and playing games you enjoy and be creative with them and also rambling sometimes, my favourite thing you make at the moment is actually your podcasts and other talky things like Pokémon reviews. I loved news also so that's a great idea. Oh also I know you must get this loads but on stream can you please next complete god of war cos I'd actually watch them for that, it'll help my Norse mythology based dnd campaign too hahaha

William Newing

I loved the daily completes series, I don't know if I'd be able to watch the streams live, but I desperately want more sandboxy completes. I still can't wait for your books, however!

Luke

Hi Dan! To answer some questions- I'll admit I love a good video. Or a bad video- I just like listening to you and your commentary. Obviously the more you love or hate a game the more entertaining it is. I love your 'Completes' series. You building the massive house in Fallout 4 was magic. I selfishly want you to keep doing CATS with MATN in Fallout 76 because of how bad the game is. That light fun and mockery is just personally something I really enjoy in a video. When something can be mocked, on the same level that something can be so deeply praised- is truly entertaining. On the topic of things with MATN, I love when there are road trips, sea of thieves, or really anything where that gang can get together. (shout out to UpIsNotJump in on that as I think you all are a lot of fun to watch) Of course PodCats was amazing- always feel free to bring that back. In the argument of streams vs videos and yourtube vs twitch and what each can do- I see your problem and respect it. You want to make videos but you can't really host on twitch. Is this an opportunity to work with another video hosting site? A sexy joint venture or something? That way you're not tired to strictly streaming, you can still make a video and write and be funny, but youtube is out of the equation. Anyway the long and short of it is- I generally appreciate your content (I could do without the Switch stuff but I still watch it you know? It's just a bit meh but again thats just one chicks opinion) and love you to be the voice in my head. I want you to feel creatively fulfilled and therefore continuing to make things for me to watch/ listen. Happy to help you get there by being a patreon!

LadyTato

Just my 2c to answer your Qs: I'm here because I like your edited video work, fun and energetic and honest without straying into being obnoxious which is a more significant achievement than you might think on YT. I never watch Twitch, sorry - I just don't have the time to tune in for several hours at a time, I think that's mostly kids, or people who can multitask watching things in the background (I can't do that). So edited videos is where I'm at - not necessarily scripted, although I thought your Quick series was great, but just condensed is fine. I hope you find some way of continuing to do that even if YT is no longer feasible - glad to hear it's something you'd like to do.

Steve Streeting

The news stuff sounds great I love hearing your opinions on gaming news

CB

I can't really give constructive feedback because I don't know what works best, I really liked the old edited plays videos on Saturday, but apart from that I'll watch anything you make because you're funny and smart. As for the reason I'm a patron: I donate €5.01 monthly because I like you as a person. I have been watching you from age 13 and like every pubescent boy, I was an edgy dickhead, and whether you like it or not, you have shaped me as a person. In the last 5.5 years I have become a more rational, more friendly, more tolerant and all-round better person, and maybe that would've happened with age anyway, but I think your influence was crucial. I donate because I care about you, I want you to be able to do what you want to do, I know I'll love most of what you produce so I should give you means to do so. Also I grew up in upper middle class so everything I need in life is provided for me, I will probably never have to deal with money issues, I have a lot to give and no risk for doing so (I'm not trying to brag, I've done nothing to deserve this, I'm just explaining my situation and reasoning).

Kloovt

Hi I've been a dedicated supporter of all you do from Jan 2013 (Far Cry 3) and will continue to support no matter what. I've supported your book (excited for my personalised video!) and Ashens film so I can see you act! I miss the old second channel clogs and enjoy your live streams too. I like the idea of the news videos coming back and would totally want and use the ability to download certain video playlists for when I'm out an about. Keep up all the hard work, hugs for all.

Honestly I give the money because you guys deserve the shit out of it. You work so hard and do it because it love it, not because you want that cash Content wise it's the videos I've always loved, specifically the random funny videos where you just have fun. YouTube is a heading pile of crap, so if you moved to a different site and uploaded there I'd watch them there with no hesitation

I really like the random shit style videos, so I'm glad you view those positively as well...I don't know about everyone else, but Soup with Nerd Cubed was one of my favourite series. Very chill, very informative, made you think a little...like Bob Ross.

I donate because I want to try and give back to the people who have helped me get through some tough times in the past. I don't even know when I started watching but you have always been a constant, and while I would be sad that it goes I completely understand your motives. One quick (slightly unrelated) feedback, PLEASE title the files of the podcasts something sensible! DDMMYY is awful when I download them to my phone, please use YYMMDD so they stay in order! I will always advocate for more colabs if possible. I love your comedy and humour solo but when you have someone you gel with, I love that riffing back and forth, it just is so wonderful to me. Once again, thanks for everything you do and I can't wait to see what the future holds!

I give money for you to do what you want to do so whatever it is you want to do I will follow and support

CB

I give money just because really :p I like dan, matt, rebecca, john etc. I used to watch every video on youtube, but that has died down a bit. Same with the streams aswell, i'm not really a stream watcher. I'll keep pledging while i'm in a position to be able to, just because i think you guys deserve my money to be perfectly honest

The end of an era for sure, but given that YouTube has become a racist, homophobic, cess pit of a website I'm not surprised, I do miss things like the completes and edited videos from before the first reboot (and some after it too!), and I still go back fairly often to watch them (recently rewatched the MGS2 completes, still very enjoyable). I give money because of the podcasts, and also so I can still feel like part of a community that I've grown up in (2012 seems like such a long time ago). I can't wait to finally be able to read the book, should get me through a summer's worth of holidays. Thank you for everything Dan & Co 👍

I support your Patreon for many reasons, the main one being that you (Dan, Rebecca, Matt... Nerdcubed as an entity) have been a constant in my life- that constant may be really inconsistent and show up in different places, but none the less, you have provided entertainment in many forms and I genuinely see you as a fucking fantastic role model (no, really I do) for your points of view, how you treat people, and your sheer honesty no matter the situation. I look up to you and have been comforted by your content when I needed it, entertained always, and no matter what content you produce I will continue to support you for that (Patreon and Twitch paid subscriber). My favourite content is your live streams with Rebecca, we all feel connected and have a safe place to feel included. My favourite YouTube videos in fact have been the few you have made with Rebecca (like Overcooked). And of course the toys videos. I really enjoyed the planet coaster series’ both the original and Christmas special. Thank you for everything and do what you enjoy- because that’s when the really great content comes out. I've been watching since the Minecraft Pirate Ship, and basically I pay to support the weird creative content that can't be made regularly, in the hope that you don't have to produce filler just to make ends meet. That said, a short weekly news video sounds like a fun new series, and if your heart is in it then it'll be great

I'm giving money because I really enjoy the stuff you do and want to support you and you're all like super decent people. I do enjoy your videos, after all they have been a constant in my life for many years now, however I believe you should do what works for you best. Sure, I'd miss videos, but honestly I've been super enjoying the streams, so maybe at this point I prefer seeing those? I really don't know what I like most. I do enjoy weird shit, so looking forward to more of that.

Hi Dan. My pledge is small but I miss the edited content. Even once or twice a week would be nice. I know you do the livestreams, which can be enjoyable, but i don't have time to watch 3-4 hours a day. I know livestream are easy because they don't need editing, but your edited videos are where your creativity shines. I'm not interested in the Switch content, as I don't have one and never will. Looking forward to the book though!

I give money because you are a nice lad with nice content.

I've been watching since 2012. And you have been one of the few YouTubers that I consistently watch. You were also the first one I ever supported on Patreon, even to this day I only support one other channel besides yourself. I support not just for the videos that are coming out currently or your exclusive Patreon content. I am supporting you for all the years of entertainment you managed to bring to me. When I studied abroad a had a really rough time going to sleep due to all my negative thoughts bubbling up in my head. I used to have a tradition of watching a video right before going to bed so that something fun and positive sticks in my head. Your videos were always the priority for me. Because when I watched them I just forgot about everything else. Was just entertained by how genuinely passionate you were about video games. I remember filling up my watch later playlist and holding myself back on watching your videos just so that I could watch them before going to bed so that I don't have to stay up all night with awful thoughts. So thank you for all the years of entertainment. Im the type of person who doesn't really interact or leave comments. But I thought it would be fitting to leave one here. Thanks for everything Dan, and I'll keep supporting you regardless if you have a YouTube channel or not.

Omar AlHashmi

Is there any plan to host the videos on your website rather than embedding YouTube? Also I will pump money through the platform's I like. E.g. twitch prime and bits - patron - YouTube red. I would prefer to pick who I pay on YouTube but don't want to use the "join" feature as I have a lot of different channels I want to support but limited funding. EDIT: Also we need a new democracy stream :)

Gentle Grudge

I think I mostly keep supporting cos like you and these podcasts.

Tim Wiles

I want to start be saying that one of the main reasons I support you here and have been basically since you launched it is because I want to support the company and the work that you do, all of you. Not only that, you all are also such lovely people and through that has managed to create a kind, supporting and welcoming community that keeps people wanting to stay around for anything you do. I have loved all that you do since the first video I saw, and even now I watch every video you put out. Besides that though, what I have really enjoyed recently are the podcasts you put up here, as well as the livestreams (and looking forward to the book!). I don't get to catch them live very often, due to my own busy schedule, but I do watch the videos of them afterwards instead, for example I have been watching your entire Sekiro playthrough that way (and thanks for taking a week off for me to catch up on livestreams). Whenever I need to cheer up or just take a break, or even while doing something else, I love watching or listening to something of yours, and that's been true for years, and that's the reason I will keep supporting you no matter what you do next. Thanks for everything you have unknowingly helped me through!

Mimi

Ever since I came across Dan's Elite Sniper V2 demo video I've been hooked. Every day I couldn't wait till the new vid was up and I could crawl up somewhere, and watch his video's, and just forget stuff for a while. His humor and jokes made my belly ache with laughter on many occasions. And Dan's the inspiration why I've been placing some vids on YouTube myself, and maybe, one day I'll be as good as Dan is. If I had a million or two, I would give it. Though I would mourn the end of the YouTube Nerdcubed Era.

I give money to support Dan with his weird endeavors, like writing books and whatever other mad plans you have going on. I like what you do and represent and want to directly support you. You make unique things, and that’s hard to find in the void of the YouTube algorithm. My favorite videos were that 2017 reboot with Tiny Town VR and Nerd3’s Friends. The weird creative stuff absolutely works best. Maybe getting one of those videos every two or three weeks, or whenever you feel like making one would be great. The news idea with recommending new and interesting stuff sounds great, I’d be down for that. On that note, I really liked the recommends series. Maybe a bit more of that in the proposed news idea? I also like that you’ve now made a schedule for live-streams because I don’t often catch them live.

Arcade Cat

I've been watching Dan's videos since 2012, I have watched many youtubers over the years but the only one I have always stuck with is Dan's. The only time I don't enjoy his video's is when he doesn't like the game ("Hates" and "Hell" series for example), when he loves a game I can just feel his passion for gaming and it brings out the passion I have for gaming. He is one of the most funny people i've ever come across and I just love his kind of humor. The streams with Dan, Matt and John (and the "Podcats") are so entertaining, I could just listen to all of you talk for hours. The streams with Dan and Rebecca i'd have to say are my favorite, Dan playing while Rebecca talks to chat is just lovely. There relationship and just the way they are together is just the cutest thing in the world. All I want is for you all to be happy and to never stop making videos and streaming lol <3

My favourite stuff you’ve ever done is the streak of videos you put out that started around September 2017, starting with the simpsons tapped out glitches video. That planet coaster Christmas series is one of the best things you’ve ever done. I think generally you’re best content is the stuff that you’re excited about and the stuff you put the most planning and effort into. Frankly, the YouTube channel is currently the project I’m least invested in from you. I think that you’ve created a really warm and accepting community through twitch that isn’t there on YouTube and would love to see that continue, and all the book stuff is super exciting. I’d really like to see you prioritise those over YouTube or switch (heh) up what you’re doing on there. Also you cool.

Weekly or monthly content more similar to the previous reboot was the second golden age of Nerdcubed. Taking the basic concept of Black Mirror to Let's Plays is very interesting and good

On the end of why I support y'all, just like the general consensus is saying, Youtube isn't the only reason I pledge money, I do like the idea of my following on patreon helping your creative endeavors outside of Youtube. That being said I don't want to see a stop from the edited videos side, and unfortunately Youtube is tied to that as no other platform (with a wide enough user base and creator variety) is an option. [I've seen some other creators go about making their own website host videos and/or have an app, but that might require more time/resources than would be worth it, and a large enough portion of your audience willing to use a new platform just for you] I do like the idea of a regular news thing/ return of news with some sort of script before hand, along with the occasional "weird" video, but I do feel a sort of regular gaming thing would need to help pad it out, whether a "testing" type or a "completes" type(the latter would be my preference as I do still occasionally binge older completes playlists). Another thing you could do might be a "how projects are going" video series, but as it seems you don't like revealing too much of what's way down the pipeline, I imagine you won't be too keen on doing that.

Will Carlson

I support your patreon for a few reasons. I've been watching your videos from 2012 onwards, I'll continue doing that even if you stop YouTube. I like Dan's ramblings and the other projects. The podcast on it's own is already great. News and streams are great too. I just hope Dan will be alright. Dan, your humour and rambling are the things that drew me in in the first place, and they're what's great about the podcast and your content. PS. I really liked your vlog things. Not sure why I feel like mentioning it. PPS. I miss TB too.

I give money because you, Rebecca, and Matt have earned it. I enjoy the shorterish videos, but will watch the longer ones, just not always right away. I am enjoying the switch videos. I like getting your opinion on new games that I haven’t heard of yet. I like the streams, but just with the timing, I usually only catch them once every 2 weeks or so and watching them later isn’t as good without the comment stream. I really love the toys videos also, so keep those going if you would be so kind.

StrandedPatrick

I support you for your humor/creativity and the podcast, not necessarily lets plays. It’s like zero punctuation- the games are just a framework for the presenter

Benjamin Poulson

I like the News idea but two switched like videos with it would be perfect

Josh Harding

Was that bit you told Matt not to say anything about just documents with make awed noses that were otherwise blank

DapperCyborg

To answer your question, I subscribe ot this patreon mostly for this podcast itself

I support you guys because I love all the various random shit that you guys do. I'd say from what Matt said about view counts, it's pretty clear people just love both Dan rambling on his own about anything, and Dan, Matt, and Jon interacting with one another. I too love the longform content (like Twitch streams) more than some of the shorter stuff. Just putting it on in the background puts a smile on my face. (Or rather I plan to have it on in the background, but more often than not I focus on it because you guys are hilarious and I want to take in every moment.) But yeah, for the channel, if you want to do news videos like you brainstormed here, I don't think you should "save the humor for the books", because the random bits of what Dan says out of the blue is one of the major draws of the channel, and scripting that away feels like Star Trek without the space setting. As for other ideas, I personally always love videos where someone talks about something they're passionate about, and make us care for it as well. Like the videos I watch most on Jon's channel are his Total War series because he's so passionate about knowing everything about it. Perhaps you can show us in future videos things that you haven't shown us yet that you're passionate about, like not even just games, but other things you've done or loved. Perhaps a video on your writing process? Or exploring how a classic game is made? Or, idk, you can make a wildlife documentary on NPCs in a game or something, idk.

Tustin2121

I have watched your videos for years and I still love them. I really like the idea of the news videos and also would like you to bring back the completes, record them in bulk if you want (please factorio thats all I ask). Twitch is awesome btw.

Grantarg

Please for the love of god bring back the motherfucking Podcats, other than that I support you for your creativity

Omari Antony

I think literally everyone who donates to you just wants to see you keep making cool/weird/funny shit regardless of the platform. YouTube has all the appeal of an itchy hemorrhoid so nobody can fault you on not wanting to invest as much time on it. Video-wise what I want the most is more collaborations, like with CATS and Little and Cubed. It would be awesome if there was some way you could bring those back in a way that you can avoid the wanker YouTubers. Ultimately I'm a huge fan either way so I'll keep watching regardless 😋

i keep this support up for the videos where dan has fun and like matt said can be creative, like the back and forth of building and exploring episodes in fallout completes. alwasy been a fan of the completes or permadeath and hope that those will keep coming back, but i understand its gotta be something dan wants or he wont have fun. the weird silly videos were great too.

This is the first ever Patreon I supported. All subsequent patreons I gave money to I've cancelled, switched around or temporarily put on hold. This is the only one I've continuously paid for without hold. Initially I also supported you for the games and the book that we were -well, for lack of a better word, "promised". The games have been on hold for over a year now, and the idea of "you get a cut on the book depending on how much money you've paid us" was mentioned once and obviously not followed upon due to financial concerns. That was a side-reason though. The games were a fun thing to look forward to, and by no means the primary reason I have supported you for all these years. I support you for... you. I see it as a way to repay you for all the happy memories. Without your work my life would be so different right now. So... thank you. It doesn't matter what content you release. Whether it is YouTube, Twitch or anything else, I will always pay that single dollar on a monthly basis.

Tijmen Bergman

I give yall money to support the twitch and books! It's not connected to youtube :3

To further that, my favorite videos and just "things" in general are the one's where Dan is having a good time with it, or having some reaction to them. I was thinking about this earlier while watching his Beam.Ng Drive video.

Logan Rees

Daaaaaan. I keep giving my little bits through Patreon to support you, not your YouTube channel. You could completely end your online presence and I'd still keep sending my little bits, as a thank you for what you've done. You've given me, and many others, a shit ton of entertainment and support. I want to support whatever it is you choose to do. Oh, and Matt's cool too. Don't fire Matt. And Rebecca is just super lovely. She comes across as just the nicest person. Oh, and your Dad's videos are the ultimate comfort food. So yeah, take my money for you and your team. You're all amazing and lovely and wonderful.

Kai

I give money to support just about any of Dan's endevors, and to support The Company. As for the things I enjoy being made, I've loved the creative youtube videos and series for years (ex: Fallout series), but I also like the streams, podcasts, etc.

Logan Rees

Just got to Matt’s question, i’m giving money to give back for all the years of free entertainment and even if youtube stops or slows down more i’ll keep my pledge here going. I always really liked the news videos (just listening to Dan ramble in general) i think that could be a fun concept to explore

In answer to the two questions I support basically all of Dan's projects. Love the youtube stuff and it's what I got in on, but the podcasts are awesome, love the work you do with other youtubers, looking foreword to the book and what not I doubt Id stop supporting if youtube videos stopped but I think they are fantastic and I would miss them XD

Daniel Shenton

I am am supporting you for is just podcasts now because I don't like YouTube anymore and don't like twitch

I’ve been loving your channel since 2012 but with youtube being how it is, imo it would be better for your sanity to put youtube on the backburner and start focussing on the newer more exciting projects you’re on about. Maybe weekly stream highlights videos of all streams the previous week and one or a couple of weird shit / plays videos a month idk just some stuff i came up with

To summarize: Matt can do the 48 digit star trek thing still, and Dan had sex with a woman recently and is married.

Lauren Clarke

Please don't go...

Someone summarize it. Can't watch a podcast right now :(.

SkytechCEO

It's quarter past one dan. I'll listen tomorrow

ooh listening now!
