Hello!
Ever get those games where you think you're playing something different to everyone else? MoH:A&B is one of those games for me. I adore it. It's gorgeous, plays fast and hits the right border between playability and realism. Weapon reloads are a button and a few hand gestures, shooting feels right, and that fucking train bit is one of my favourite moments in video game history.
So, why has everyone given it a 5 or a 6 out of 10?
Sure, it's got ludicrous specs, a slightly cartoony aesthetic, and that (skippable) car chase bit made me legitimately ill, but I cannot see a problem that would drag it lower than an 8 or 9 out of 10. I was worried that it would get worse as it goes, but no, it's apparently much better after that first mission, and I loved that first mission. It feels like a PS2 game come to life, with far better graphics and VR shootery. What am I missing that's so hateful?!
Maybe it's Half-Life: Alyx being so good, but Half-Life: Alyx is a horror game, so Half-Life: Alyx is something I will never, ever play. Maybe it's some indie thing having more accurate reloading or something, IDK. All I know is that when that truck rolled up past that butchers shop, it felt like a place. Like someone's home. Then a big plane landed on it, because video games, and I grinned like a loon. I love video-games man, they're fucking rad.
