It's time for a MATT UPDATE

So, I thought I'd give you all a Patreon Podcast style update about me in text form, Daniel has detailed all the stressful shit going on with him in the podcast - and since my personal goings on lately are impacting on video output I wanted to give you all an update.
If you follow me on Twitter you might have heard some of this before so apologies. I'll make this fairly in depth for those curious but the TL;DR is I'm ill and won't be running at full capacity for probably the rest of 2021.

SO just over a month ago (Not long after the big 10th anniversary stream) I lucked into getting my first COVID jab from a place local to me as they had spares they would have had to throw away if not used, so I went over and got my first shot of the AstraZeneca vaccine! I unfortunately had a quite bad reaction to it and had a high fever for about 4 days, then started getting chest pain.
I went to my doctors about the chest pain, they did some tests and sent my blood off for testing, I went home thinking nothing of it. Then at 3am I'm woken up by someone frantically banging on my door, turns out it's an on call GP from the hospital - they'd been calling me for 3 hours. They'd ran my bloods and there appeared to be a very strong indicator that I had a blood clot in my lung (A high D-dimer count), and told me to go to A&E.
Off I went to A&E, and I spent about 18 hours there getting jabbed with a lot of things and mainly just waiting for scans (Thanks for underfunding the NHS, tory government). In the end it was determined that I did in fact have a small blood clot in my lung, most likely the result of the AZ vaccine I'd gotten a few days prior as there was no other reason they could think of. I was prescribed 6 months of strong blood thinners (To stop the clot getting any worse, it should go away on its own within 6 weeks, but I'm at a very high risk of getting another one for a while after, which is why it's 6 months) and was sent home.
I had a bad reaction to the blood thinners, they made me feel very woozy, very brain foggy, and generally quite bad - which is apparently common for the first week or two that you're on them. However after almost a month it's not gotten better so I'm going to be put on different blood thinners.
THEN, I got mouth pain. Got an emergency dentist appointment - turns out one of my wisdom teeth is super impacted (It's literally grown in forwards rather than up), and it had gotten infected as a result, so I need a emergency wisdom tooth removal in a hospital under general anesthetic. However I can't get that done while on the blood thinners, and going off them risks litteral death so I have to deal with that pain for at least 6 months until I'm off them.
At this point, I very suddenly lost my therapist of 4 years with about a weeks notice (Surprisingly similarly to how Daniel lost his a few weeks prior), which was excellent timing.
THEN I developed very very severe constant headaches during every waking moment, and painkillers didn't touch it. Got another emergency doctors appointment and they think it's a severe sinus infection as a result of my immune system being battered by all the other stuff - so they put me on antibiotics and steroids. She also thinks 'very severe stress' is a factor. I've had that constant head pain for well over a week now.
As it currently stands: Everything hurts, I'm on a million drugs (17 pills a day to be exact), I'm very tired, and I have pretty bad brain fog all the time. I'm also dealing with some very stressful housing gubbins that I can't really detail for privacy reasons but to summarise: AHHHH.
Now to be clear here: I'm not writing this to try and engender sympathy for myself - I just wanted you all to know everything that has/is going on as I've been really struggling to work as a result. Daniel has also been taking time off for reasons he's spoken on in the podcasts, so my not really being able to work hasn't been too obvious, but it may become more obvious moving forward.
I'll be okay! Hopefully by this time next week most of the drugs will have started to work and I'll be feeling better. Today is the first day of improvement in a while, so I'm hoping to be out of the woods soon. I will however be on the blood thinners for the next 5 months and they'll at best just make me a bit woozy all the time, then right after that I'll need to get a fairly invasive surgery with a couple of weeks recovery time. So, just bear with me for a while if anything is late. :p

P.S. My experience with the vaccine is a super super rare one, so don't be discouraged. If you're able to get vaccinated, GET VACCINATED.

2021-05-17 13:53:50 +0000 UTCI actually looked into it this week for all four of us at Nerd³ and am considering it, as it's much easier with us working from home - plus since we're a 'key person' focused business (As in, if Dan or I are completely fucked then everything stops), getting health stuff sorted quickly is super valuable, so it may pay for itself. Obviously doesn't cover preexisting conditions though and ehhh.

Honestly if you guys wanted to fully hiatus for however long to get everything sorted I for one would be totally ok with it.
