Streaming services and subscriptions were initially really good cause there was 1 or 2 at most that you had to pay for, and you got access to everything you ever wanted. Now they're all going up in price and there's so many it's just not feasible to subscribe to more than a couple which means you miss out on so much unless you pirate. The subscription model is just another of those things that's good in theory but has been completely ruined because everyone wants in on it (not even getting into region locking shows). At this point I just don't bother. I have Amazon Prime Video purely because it's included in my Prime subscription I use for shopping and Twitch, and then I just have my own media server because on our salaries I'd basically need to choose between getting to watch the shows I want to see and being able to actually save for house improvements, and shows will never win out on that front.

Everyone is giving amazing recommendations for what to read so I won’t add to the already great list! Just wanted to make a comment that if you can afford to please do support your local comic shop! I work in one and the industry has been incredibly rough over the last 3 years so if you can please shop at your local 💚

Brayden Dixon

I would definitely recommend Dan Slott’s She-Hulk run. Lots of silly legal drama with some superhero on the side and a dash of 4th wall breaking. It’s been getting me super pumped for the disney+ show!

supergalactic

I highly recommend immortal hulk and old man logan

See I've had asthma since I was a kid, so my body very much tells me when I've done too much exercise

The most important thing too remember in comics is that is ok to be confused and not know everything. The best part of comics is that there is always new things you will learn that change the way you look at stories you have already read. But if you want some more modern recomendation I might suggest house of x and power of x which leads into all the modern xmen stuff in the last 3 or so years. The visions from 2015 is a great self contained tragity. If you want context going into the 2015 secret wars I would suggest you read pretty much everything by Jonathan hickman especially his fantastic four and new avengers runs. But don't feel pressured too know everything even long time fans don't know everything and don't let one bad book turn you off the entire industry like it does for some people.

Theres only one comic I've read and it's Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew which is very good. Two problems with recommending it. First is it's DC, not Marvel and the second is the reissue is all in black and white where the real thing was in colour. But yeah, it's good.

I'm delighted to hear you're giving the gym a try and that you're enjoy (or at least not hating) it! As a fitness nerd who struggled with weight for many years I hope you don't mind if I say one thing. I actually think 75kg may be too low as a weight target. Of course I don't know your height, but if you're over 180cm or ~6ft, as I suspect you might be, then 75kg is really the lightest you could be before looking underweight. All I'm really trying to do here is insure that you're aware of the possibility of losing too much weight as I appreciate that you may not have had to worry about that before. Still, if you are interested, I'd predict you'll look and feel fitter around 80kg, assuming a height of 180cm. Wishing you the best of luck Dan, and the same to Rebecca as well! Thank you for all you've done and will do for us!!!

This podcast is like getting a really long voice message from a good friend

Glad to hear you're getting into Ultimate Spider-Man! It's one of my childhood favorites. Just be warned that the other Ultimate comics go even harder on some of the edginess and slurs for the most part. They still have their moments, but it can be a rough read at times, especially with X-Men and The Ultimates When it comes to Secret Wars, I'd actually recommend the original 1980s version if you want something fun that doesn't require much knowledge of previous comics. Secret Wars (2015) is a bit of a tricky one for newcomers. If you ever feel like reading something a little more classic, I'd highly recommend Chris Claremont's X-Men comics from the 70s and 80s (starting with Giant Size X-Men #1 in 1975). They've aged surprisingly well given some of the time they came out, and have some genuinely fun characters and themes!

i quite like a lenghty book. I have a chronic pain condition in my joints and i have the same thing that you were talking about with exercising, it just feels like i can go forever but then when i actually make myself stop it just feels like, as you say, treacle. also i find these interesting because as someone who also has a chronic condition its kinda nice to hear someone talking about the things that also effect me

Jack Jones

how did you like The Orville season 3?

Scott Sutherland

CHAMPIONS, YOUNG AVENGERS... I love everything those teams are in...

Craig (CraigUntlNytTym) Penfold

Wait until Dan remembers he has to sign ~2,500 books

Jessica Cronin

Thank you too Dan. You've given so many of us so much over the past years that it only makes sense to return the favor.
