Red's Weekly Update

This week's update is all about the particle effects show in the video! I've been learning Unity's new Shuriken particle system from scratch, so it was pretty tricky but I ended up with something I think looks pretty good and looks fairly close to the "real thing," keeping in mind I'm going for a flatter, 2D look. Right now you can see it's applied to everything (for testing purposes), but this effect will be used for when the player's shots hit an enemy. I can also use it as a base for making some of the other similar effects required. Let's take a look at the list:

Player trails (Done!)
Player shot destruction (Done!)
Player get hit
Player ship destruction
Enemy get hit (Done!)
Enemy shot destruction*
Enemy kill
Boss/Core kill
Hacking Entry effect
Hacking Exit effect
Core shield (Done!)
Core shield hit*

*Are the ones that should be quick if I can use this new one as a base.

So things are moving right along. I know particles aren't especially interesting compared to what else is supposed to be in the game, but that's sort of why I just want to knock them all out and get 'em finished all at once.
