In multifactorial diseases the genetic predisposition is not not on an All or Nothing basis. When the interplay between different genetic sites in psychopathy is better understood, it is more likely that people diagnosed with it will present with different predisposition "scores".

2022-12-23 23:35:28 +0000 UTCThat little boy’s foster-child story is heartbreaking…We survive via our Hope for Humanity & for a prevailing “Good Humanness.” When another Human appears as possibly “hopeless” the bottom of my soul drops open with grief. I question Life all over again, & of course my own experiences w/feeling hopeless. It’s the natural internal mirror where we see ourselves in each other. Being hopeless & feeling hopeless are two different states, of course. But I wonder if the person who is thought to be hopeless also feels hopeless? And is feeling hopeless - that “nothing matters,” “who cares?” “nobody cares” “I don’t matter” etc.- a key to psychopathy? If nothing matters, then life - and lives - don’t matter to them and there is nothing to stop them from ending lives - ? (Yikes. These are uncomfortable thoughts…)🌿

It spooked me so much! Keyes is terrifying. Hearing how he was caught and what happened after was the most interesting for me. Looking forward to HTC Book Club!

But is it possible that he has the physical markers of a potential psychopath but has never experienced the environmental traumas that exacerbate the tendency? (I know he's your hero so don't want to tread on your toes here.)

2022-12-21 10:38:59 +0000 UTCThank you for answering my questions!!! ❤️🙌🏼 The story you told about the boy and the dog reminded me of a little boy named Frank Daringer I used to babysit who gave me the absolute creeps....and he was only 7-8 years old. He did lots of horrible stuff even as a young child (pleasure from watching the suffering he caused others and animals). Stuff that would make your skin crawl. And I've been saying for almost 30 years that one day I'm going to find out that he's a serial killer.
