Quite honestly, after watching the Netflix documentary I find the whole family to be awful people. Their sense of entitlement, and their lack of empathy for others showed what horrible people they all were....although Maggie and Paul clearly did not deserve to die. I don't think Alex was crying for anyone other than himself.

Susan

Thank you for the very thoughtful and well researched insights.

Curious about your thoughts on the interview with Lindsey Edward's. She described violent sexual encounters with Alec Murdough why do you think this information was not used by the prosecution in the trial? It is another example of a behavior pattern consistent with violence

Thank you for succinctly explaining the family’s dynamics! It makes so much sense!

I can't wait to see the live tonight!

Who is Alex’s Timmy? Gosh, I hope you guys see this. I have had this question for Dr. John since hearing Alex call his son Paw Paw and his wife Mags. I’m wondering, did Alex, in his mind, create a separate self like Paul’s Timmy? Someone, as he said on the stand, that had so much hate in his heart that he blew PAUL’S (not Paw Paw's) brains out? He would never have hurt Paw Paw and Mags, but someone else had to kill Paul Murdagh and Maggie Murdagh to stop the shame and rejection. Paw Paw loved his daddy and wanted to hunt and fish with him. Paul Murdagh was an embarrassment. He exposed family secrets, financial crimes, and Alex’s true character, someone who would calluses steal from vulnerable people. Mags loved what he was able to provide. Proud of the family name and unquestioning of his financial competency and corruption. Maggie Murdaugh, from his perspective, possibly started rejecting him and the family name when it became a source of shame and embarrassment. Alex didn't kill them; it was a drug-fueled rage monster. Just like Paul didn't hit or spit on Morgan, it was Timmy, the crazed asshole. I hope I'm making sense. I'm writing this in my car, hoping to hear your thoughts tonight on the live. Ps. Grammarly works so hard to keep up with my beautiful dyslexic brain, but it can only do so much. 😂

i didn’t get that at all. JM is the nicest sibling of all.

I watched the Netflix documentaries tonight after watching your live. I’m getting Alex Cox vibes with John Marvin. Seems like a family scheme and John was the clean up. Maybe that’s why he looks so torn up at court.

I could listen to you two all day! In fact I pretty much do! Thank you for your insight. It helps me to somewhat wrap my brain around how something like this could happen.

In today’s hearing, the prosecutor brought up “shame” and “family annihilator”. Someone’s listening to you on the prosecution team 😉

Heard a psychoanalyst sum up the motive perfectly…”death before dishonor” & this really resonated with me bc I thought this could not be more accurate. IMO I don’t think Alex’s ego could handle the shame & embarrassment that would come from P&M finding out their plush lifestyle was all from stolen money…including $$ from their 20+yr nanny/housekeepers sons settlement. Interested in whether Dr.Johns agrees

It doesn’t surprise me that Alex took the stand. He is a seasoned lawyer & knows how to work a jury. He confesses to all the lies & stealing of clients money, but he wants to convince the jury & all who are watching through crocodiles tears that he didn’t & wouldn’t kill his wife and son (Mag’s & Paw Paw). The lies/thief’s were due to his drug addiction. Also, loved the way he used their cute pet names during his testimony to help him appear to be a devoted loving father. & husband. I still believe in my soul that he is guilty. To him it’s better to be thought of a crook than a killer & federal prison is much better that state prison. IMO

I want to know if Dr John is surprised that Alex took the stand to defend himself. Collier Landry compared Alex to him dad who also took the stand to defend himself. It was so interesting because Collier said that Alex and his dad were so similar before today.
