BOOK CLUB ZOOM RECORDING - FEBRUARY 28th - The Examined Life

UPDATES (continued):

In the last post - our ad-free Murdaugh podcast episode - I had more to add, but my laptop battery was almost dead. Here I am again! :)

THANK YOU for your patience waiting for this February book club zoom recording. I was late, and it won't happen again. March's book club meeting is this coming Wednesday evening. John will share more in tomorrow's patreon podcast episode.

This past week was a stressful one for us. There are firsts for everything, and HTC had our first "PR nightmare" lol ...  PR nightmare is actually a bit extreme, and I personally feel we did a fine job amidst some unexpected media attention, but the Twitter mobs and social media trolls were not friendly, and it was new territory to navigate.

While the rest of the true crime world was discussing Lori Vallow Daybell's death penalty being pulled off the table, and the heartless Colorado dentist who poisoned his own wife and mother of 6 children  -tragic -  I was busy with podcast public relations, and I am still catching up. This includes emails, DM's and anyone who has been trying to reach out. Please know I am behind!

John and I both laughed when FOX News this week referred to our Podcast producer and staff that doesn't exist, and we were both grateful when they finally updated their false statement in an article discussing our FOIA request and jailhouse call that we released on Tiktok and YouTube.

Basic summary for those who missed it: We filed a FOIA request. We received a public recording. We posted one of those recordings that was a conversation between Alex Murdaugh and his attorney Jim Griffin. When Griffin learned of the recording he was livid, and rightfully so.  It allegedly wasn't meant to be released to us through the FOIA request, and Colleton County claims it was a mistake.

While Griffin's anger was not directed at us, and we were merely messengers in this odd saga,  strangers on the internet weren't so convinced and, well ...  to be continued. I'm sure some of you have other thoughts. More to come.

This week I enjoyed meeting a Hidden Gem and Patreon at Starbucks! It was so wonderful to spend time with Lynette Scolari, and she even helped me touch up our company PR statement with some final edits! Thanks Lynette, and thank you to this incredible community! It's so fun to meet our gems in real life!

My son is demanding I read him Harry Potter, but before I go, last but not least, I'm off to Boise very soon! One of our gems is coming with me the first couple of weeks. Nothing will stop us from attending and reporting on Lori Vallow Daybell's trial (along with other wonderful podcasters and reporters) and bringing you the very latest!
