Added 2023-04-01 06:54:15 +0000 UTCThe good news is I posted this less than a week after March's official book club meeting. Go me! The unfortunate news is that two hours into the recorded meeting, Zoom stopped recording, and the end of the book club meeting didn't make it. We are sorry about that.
Thank you to Julie Holden for helping to host the meeting, and all other Patreons who helped John manage the wonderfully large group of hidden gems and club members.
John has not solidified April's book choice. We will share the book as soon as John makes his decision--in the next few days.
Thank you again everyone for such a wonderful meeting this month.

I thought previous bookclub members were going to be grandfathered in without having to pay $15 a month.

2024-01-31 01:41:17 +0000 UTCJennifer, in case you haven't found it, it's Shot in the Heart, by Mikal Gilmore. There are a lot of used copies out there, and you should have plenty of time to get one before the May meeting, since our discussion of the book has been postponed until then.

2023-04-16 16:53:02 +0000 UTCI wish you could evaluate Josh Duggar. He is the oldest of 19 children all from same parents. He is in prison for images of infant children under 5 smut porn. The family were on TV. Ultra religious. Part of the Gothard movement . IBLP. THE BASIC LIFE PRINCIPAL. THEY ARE BIG . these people meet twice a yr in Big Sandy, Tx. Many want to blame the religion. He has a wife and 7 very young kids. Many say the wife wasn’t as “Joyfully Available “ as she should have been. He was caught at 15 molesting his 5 oldest sisters. No penetration that’s ever been disclosed. The parents were allowed to send him to a religion based boot camp for people doing similar things. The police got involved but allowed the punishment the parents wanted. The story was accidentally leaked to US magazine by Sheriffs Dept. After marriage with 3rd kid in 3 yrs on the way he had a very good job in DC as a lobbyist for Family Radio. He was then caught up in the Ashley Madison Scandle. Now the woman has revealed he was abusive to her. IMO religion was a part of hiding this and not forcing the state to be involved in initial treatment. But I don’t feel reform schools work. I the daughter of an Episcopal church was sent to Catholic Boarding school because I was dating someone they didn’t like. There I was exposed to much more than I even knew existed or had heard of but never seen. 1971. I saw interracial dating. I never knew that was a thing. Extreme drug use etc. those schools while not meant to be for bad girls end up being just that. I feel there is something wrong in Josh’s brain that caused this. Your opinion ?
