I thought this was a cracking episode. I loved the brief debate about whether or not football is a working-class sport. (I don't think any sport appropriated or invented by public schools can be working-class.) Also, the disconnect between history and politics is a vital topic for building a new class-based politics. I can't stand what is happening but perhaps Phil and I are being old fogeys about it.

2020-12-02 22:35:35 +0000 UTCIn US i think of statue destruction as not historical ignorance as widespread alienation and questioning of legitimacy of government as a whole. Not sure why Washington’s statue is valued here. He defended slavery and very likely us revolution favored property class at expense of working class. My take is i approve of all statue removal by mass movement but not going to do it myself.
