2021-12-02 15:25:04 +0000 UTCI enjoyed the quick briefing on Florida politics. River Page lives at the opposite end of the state from me, so the only thing I'd add is that the statewide elections in 2018 showed a much more narrowly balanced state than Trump's 2020 win. Also despite the 'Fight for $15' win, we still have a state legislature dominated by Republicans to an extraordinary degree considering 2018 and the referendum result. I assume some gerrymandering is at work, but that legislative balance is a big reason why a referendum win is no guarantee of an actual $15 per hour minimum wage, as we saw with the felons' voting rights amendment in 2018.
