Bookshelf Tour Part 1

Hello there!

I had many requests for a bookshelf tour when I got this lovely bookshelf behind me, so I thought I would do it in parts (maybe even one book at a time).

These are totally unscripted and just off the top of my head, so enjoy!

OH, kinda late, but I am just so sure that every single one of your followers (me included, of course) has one single burning question, and hopefully we will know why (although it's not exactly related to your bookshelf): Why do you always place your lamp in front of a door? :|

I love it when I buy a used book and there's an inscription, or somebody's name written inside. It's fascinating to me what they've chosen to highlight and any little notes or citations they've left. Sometimes there's a stain from some spilled piece of food, or as you've previously mentioned, perhaps tears. I am for it ♡ They've left a little ghost behind in the book for me to find.

I'm currently reading Demons and I just got through the parts that give further insight into the workings of the revolutionary group and how much work Pyotr is doing to keep it afloat. I've still got a bit to go in the book, but what struck me the most was how prophetic the descriptions were of how revolutions/revolutionary groups unfolded later both in Russia and throughout the rest of the world. That being said, hearing the background regarding the creation of Demons would probably be interesting to me. I know Dostoevsky was a revolutionary in his younger years and also know that he lived through the prime of Russian nihilism, two things that I assume clashed with many other factors to allow Dosto to write such an insightful and spookily introspective novel on the topic of revolution and revolutionary ideas. I can't seem to put the book down and am eager to find out how everything ends :)

I just can't believe there's a person out there who does not like "The Idiot", I just can't. Anyway, great video idea, unscripted videos are always fun, I can't wait for the moment we reach the teapot.

I literally had no idea about the "suddenly" phenomenon, that's very interesting as a wannabe polyglot. I love Dostoyevsky I'm definitely gonna pick that book up. I often find my buy list getting longer everytime I see a literature related video of yours.

"30 minutes devoted to one page" Jokes on you, I do that already with everything! lol But seriously I love this. Hearing you talk about Dostoevsky got me really interested in reading his works, so I started with The Brothers Karamazov and I find it to be a very funny tale. I'm definitely going to be picking up that John Jones book now lol

There's a video about Sauron as a Nietszchean. I would love to hear Joey's view on that.

Is that The Lord of the Rings I see before me? Looking forward to the continuation of this series, and most definitely your yapping on this book! I just started reading it again today. I entertained a bunch of philosophers last weekend and half the evening was spent in arguing the why, what, wherefore of Tom Bombadil, the other half divided between pondering the rare combination of great writing and great story-telling skills (and whether or not Tolkien had it), and (a very heated debate on) Mythology. It was awesome.
