Anonymous: Dearest Lena, happy early birthday (in like a week lol)!!!! I was wondering how the ROs would react to themselves being grievously injured on a mission (a sort of “go on with put me, i’ll slow you guys down" moment) and a usually stoic, high will of iron MC SOBBING over them, refusing to leave? 

Blade: he'd insist on MC leaving him behind and basically force her, because while he'd be very touched, the #1 priority of him is her safety!

Trouble: he'd go all soft and relent and let them stay, drawing them close and comforting them like "hey. it's going to be okay"

Tallys: she'd be so shaken and touched that she'd stop arguing with MC and let them stay with her

Shery: she'd burst into tears because she'd be so scared and relieved that MC was staying with her, but also terrified for them, but knowing she's not strong enough to make them go!

Riel: he'd calmly (lie) tell MC all the reasons why he's going to be okay and why it's smartest for MC to go and get help, etc... basically he'll use anything at his disposal to get MC out of there, including outright lying

Chase: he'd try to rally and pretend to himself that he wasn't that injured and would try to escape with MC, acting cheerful and brave and like nothing's wrong to the point of collapse

Red: he'd gently kiss them and remind them why they have to go (other people relying on them, someone needs to get home to their kids, whatever)

Ayla: she'd get angry at MC and shove and yell at them and tell them to LISTEN to her and get out of there!!!

Briony: she'd sigh and pretend to give in and let MC stay, but at the last moment would do something really dramatic like tricking them and making a last stand or the equivalent of putting a parachute on them and shoving them out of the airplane

Lavinet: she'd be grateful that MC would want to stay with her and would take it as the highest symbol of their love and wouldn't drive him away!

Anonymous: what would the ROs think of MC if they were a vampire like from Apex Predators?

Blade: I think he'd be a bit like Nick in Apex Predators, lots of awkward sexual tension, but he's sterner than Nick so he probably wouldn't get involved with MC!

Chase: oh my god please let's bang, I will do whatever it takes to make you fall in love with me

Red: he'd be very intrigued by MC, bordering sexual intrigue but trying to mask it as academic interest... he'd totally deny it if anyone pointed out that he was totally into MC, though!

Ayla: she'd be standoffish with MC and definitely wouldn't let them drink her blood. Over time she'd come to reluctantly accept them, but she would always hold them a bit at arm's length!

Briony: I think she'd view MC's vampirism as a condition they couldn't control and would treat them exactly as she would anyone who was, say, sick or self-conscious about some feature of theirs: as if she didn't notice at all! She'd treat them completely normally and would never acknowledge their vampirism, lol

Lavinet: she'd flirt quite a lot with MC for the danger and thrill of it but would chicken out if MC showed genuine interest back!

As for the question, can you do the female ro version of the “meeting their soulmate (mc) for the first time” from a while back? As well as briony’s thoughts on soulmates? In case you have too many questions you can answer this next one (or i think it counts as two??) whenever. What would the ro’s see in the mirror of erised? How would they react to seeing the mc in the mirror (crushing phase)? 

Female ROs and soulmates: 

There are a few different asks involving male ROs and soulmates: do you mean this one? I hope so, haha!

Tallys: She'd march right up to MC and tell them that they were her soulmate and show them the name. It'd be sort of defiant, kind of like... "So, what do we do now?"

Shery: She'd be kind of scared to meet her soulmate, because she's the sort of person who wonders if the soulmate 'system' is flawed and wonders how the fates know this is the right person? What if they don't like each other? What if they trigger her one pet peeve and she hates them but has to pretend she loves them? What if she never learns to love them??

Ayla: She'd be low-key checking every person's arm and dreading finding her name on them, mostly because she'd spend so long looking for her soulmate that she never gave herself time to be ready to meet them, if that makes any sense!

Briony: She'd be super excited to meet her soulmate and would start imagining them and what they looked like, what kind of person they were even from a young age! She'd be vibrating with excitement and just about faint if she ever saw her name on someone's arm! "I've been waiting for you!!!"

Lavinet: She would be excitedly looking at each person she expected to be her soulmate by looks: like voraciously checking out the arm of every handsome, chivalrous man she encountered, hoping to see her name there even without really knowing them--because if he's her soulmate, it will work out!

Briony's thoughts on soulmates:

I think Briony believes that there's one perfect person out there for her, the one person she'd be transcendentally happy with and needs to wait to find, but I don't think she actively assigns any supernatural elements to it, like the gods made this person for her or destiny is going to guide her to that person; it's sort of like they exist and are out there, but she isn't necessarily guaranteed to meet them? I hope that makes sense!

ROs and the Mirror of Erised:

Blade: I think he'd expect to see himself living in a world where the Autarchy didn't exist, but I think he'd be surprised to find that the mirror showed him with his love and family looking simply at peace and untroubled...

Trouble: He'd see himself married with lots of little kids running around, with an airship in the background that he could pilot! Notably, his eyes would be blue!

Tallys: She'd see herself back in her homeland with her resurrected clan all around her, waving and smiling... :(

Shery: She'd see herself happy and confident, possibly still with the Shepherds but just looking like the version of herself that she wants to be.

Riel: He'd see himself as the stately head of a university, surrounded by books and obvious wealth and power and being consulted by the great powers of the Continent on what to do...

Chase: He'd see himself surrounded by riches, comfort, and an attractive partner, lol

Red: He'd see himself unearthing the secrets of the universe and discovering the methods of traveling between worlds!

Ayla: She'd see herself with her parents and a family of her own, along with a community of friends and loved ones!

Briony: She'd see the contents of her lost memories, as well as a vision of herself having the strength to protect and defend others with a group of companions she really loves, treasures, and trusts!

Lavinet: She'd see herself finding true love as well as gaining enough political power to enact change throughout the Autarchy with no one able to stop her!

dizzy-tx: Patreon Question (have no idea how to tag it anyway in an ask lol) As always, ILY Lena (and the alpha update murdered me with the dancing omg)!! ♥️ So I know you love all your characters (ofc anyone would! I sure as hell do), but you have to be partial to one or two over the others I'm sure. Which one(s) and why?👀 (Second part to the question, are any characters easier to write than others? Anyone particular difficult to write?) 🤔

I think my favorite characters tend to be my "oldest" ones because I'm most familiar with them, so it's also easier to write them! Among those, Blade and Trouble are definitely the easiest to write (also because they were main characters, whereas many newer characters were also side characters and I don't know them as well), so I tend to "favor" them!

Briony's newer, but she draws some personality traits from the old protagonist, so her personality can be easier to write (at least for the asks)!

I love all of my characters, but some are definitely harder than others to write! Riel and Red fall on the easier side of the things, because they're also older (though Red was more of a side character than Riel). Ayla's also easy to write, too, at least in her interactions and dialogue, though I suspect writing a story from her POV would be harder--and the same with Tallys!

Chase is a mixed bag: he's just as old as Blade and Trouble and the rest are, but he's undergone so much character change (alongside Lavinet) that I'm still getting to know him and reacquainting myself with his newer personality, while still keeping aspects of him that I loved! The chaotic energy and unpredictability is something that was a core aspect of him in the past, but the playboy rogueish side is newer, so it's been interesting melding the two parts together. 

Halek, Croelle, Lavinet, and Prihine are all fairly difficult for me to write a lot about in comparison to the others, either because they're so new (Prihine and Lavinet have radically changed over the years) or because they were such background characters I didn't flesh them out as much as people like Chase or Trouble in the past, so answers about them don't come as easily; I have to devote more time to thinking about them.

I think Shery (though I love her dearly) is the hardest for me to write out of all of them because I haven't spent too much time with her; I fear that she seems the most one-dimensional of the characters so far because all her asks come out the same way (shy, nervous) and I haven't gotten the chance to really just delve into her mindset and give her as much flavor and nuance as I want! I think this is just a matter of comfort and time, though!

This is a random side note, but I also find that I sometimes have weird trouble reconciling a character's POV and how they're portrayed to the MC in the game. Trouble, for example, comes off as this troubled bad boy hothead in his short story; and in my head he is sort of volatile as much as he is loving and loyal. But in the game he comes off as more of a dumbass friendly golden retriever to MC, which sometimes can throw me off!

What kind of villain would the ROs be in an AU? 

Blade: He'd be the kind of villain who ruthlessly allowed innocents to be killed in his revolutionary cause to upset the Autarchy/take down the government by any means possible...

Trouble: He'd be a villain who had so much anger in his heart that he'd kill innocents if they got in the way for his quest for revenge (say against the Equalists, he would not have hesitated to kill the children, etc.)

Tallys: She'd be a Poison Ivy-type villain, attacking facilities and city centers in another bloody quest for revenge that she feels is very justified for the wrongs that have been committed against her...

Shery: I honestly can't see her as a villain, I guess like a bully who was really mean to people in an AU lmao. Oh I guess there's Dark!Shery, which only comes out when she's drunk... I guess she'd be like just a regular bad person who'd defraud her place of work and mistreat the people around her?

Riel: I feel like if he'd gone down a slightly darker path, he would have ended up a villain, lol; certainly if he'd stayed with his family, he would have ended up the kind of unscrupulous businessman who wouldn't bat an eye at using kittens for glue if it maximized profit!

Chase: absolute psychopath, Joker-style manic villain

Red: evil sorcerer, sacrifices victims and makes bloody rituals to demons in exchange for power

Ayla: do you know Jet from Avatar: The Last Airbender? She would be like that...

Briony: mindless weapon villain, someone has brainwashed her into doing evil (like Terra from Teen Titans) and she runs around wreaking absolute havoc on cities and destroying whole buildings

Lavinet: cold, ruthless, evil aristocrat (basically who she was before she became a protagonist). So obsessed with gaining power that she'd abandon all morals and scruples and become the Autarch's loyal lackey, carrying out her worst orders and even taking pleasure in making those lower then her suffer!

This is a little random but how would the ROs react to an MC that came home hours late because they wanted to surprise their significant other with their favorite dessert? (they got stuck in the busy bakery and roads on the way back haha). Also, I love your characters so much and Happy early birthday!! ❤️

Blade: he doesn't really like sweets, but he'd appreciate the gesture but tell MC that next time, he prefers time with them and they can get dessert together or something like that!

Trouble: he'd be very touched and happy and would instantly start thinking of ways to surprise MC back!

Tallys: she'd have been worried that MC was so late, so it would take some time for her to adjust from "worried" mode and go into "oh what a lovely surprise!" mode! She'd get there, though!

Shery: she'd be so over the moon happy and would probably cry out of happiness!

Riel: he'd scold MC a bit for coming home so late and worrying him, and then thank MC for the kind gesture in the next breath, lol

Chase: he'd have come home even later than MC because he was busy getting them a gift too, lol!

Red: he'd smile and thank them for being so sweet

Ayla: she'd be happy with MC's thoughtful gesture but maybe wouldn't be so impressed with the dessert itself; she'd much more appreciate some other gift and might wonder if MC really knows her!

Briony: she'd be delighted and would scream and hug MC, and then eat her dessert very carefully, savoring every bite!

Lavinet: she'd thank MC politely and sincerely and appreciate the gesture, but she'd rather MC lets her know he's going to be late next time just so she doesn't wait up and knows what's going on!

Things to keep in mind when romancing Chase:

• Showing trust in him is a big part of building a relationship with Chase. There are a few moments in the game where the MC can make a comment along the lines of "can you do this?" or "be sure not to mess this up..." or what have you, mostly because he acts so silly and unpredictable, and while Chase never outwardly shows that he notices this, having a strong show of faith in him is crucial to romancing him! Trust him and rely on him without reservation, because he's used to being mistrusted... so this will take him off-guard and make him really appreciate your relationship! He doesn't trust easily, either, so trusting him without reserve will make him reciprocate in turn!
• Similarly, never put him down for his past or his profession, or show doubt in his integrity. If/when you get the opportunity, build him up and help bolster his sense of self-worth rather than put him down or express disdain or skepticism! You can tease him, but don't act suspicious of him, like if something goes missing, don't accuse him of stealing it unless as a joke!
• There's a moment when Chase acts like a dick because he is starting to catch feels for MC and is scared by that and tries to torpedo the relationship to avoid opening himself up to that kind of pain and vulnerability... If you take his words at face value, this moment might be a deal-breaker for some players... but to avoid a bad ending with him, don't give up at that moment: he doesn't mean it and is just panicking!

Please.....I beg of you Lena...#tellmeeverything a tentative outline of MC’s life so I can form the perfect backstory. Is it possible that the MC could have crossed paths (craigslist missed connection style) briefly with any of the ROs outside of Red? 

You should read the character short stories on here if you haven't, especially Blade's short story! :) There's something in it explicitly about this and a possible "missed connection"!

Outside of that, though, no, I don't really think there would have been a time MC could have crossed paths with any other ROs; there's a tenuous connection if they apprenticed with Belnus Farplane, who also mentored Ayla, but most of the places I imagine MC went in the Continent were not in turn places the other ROs would have been?

This is hard to answer, and I sort of don't want to say anything definitive because I like leaving MC's past as open as possible for people to form their own MCs and backstories... 

But I can try! Here's a very tentative outline... feel free to ignore this or take it with a huge grain of salt!

Newborn: MC is discovered on parents' doorstep

13 years old: MC's birthday, destruction of their village

14 years old: Joins the Circle OR becomes Belnus' apprentice... Belnus was Ayla's mentor four years prior, before leaving to continue his travels. If self-taught, travels around making a living for themselves and stealing or buying magical texts. 

18-19 years old: Leaves the Circle, or Belnus dies.

19 years old - ???: Travels around the Continent, working various jobs, in my headcanon usually as a bodyguard, 'van guard, mercenary, travel guide, and other similar positions. This is really up to the reader, though! In my headcanon, MC's travels were isolated to the commonly-traveled parts of the Continent and did not venture into unpopulated territories like the North, the Jalis desert, the Waste, or et cetera. (Or Haven, for whatever reason.) They could have worked in a noble's court for a brief time, or sailing around the Banteen sea on a merchant ship, or really whatever the player wants: I do think they never stayed in one place for very long, though, and did not really make a community or a home anywhere in particular! I also don't think it would be realistic if they were like a notorious criminal or someone really famous for the purposes of the story, but again, there's a lot of room for headcanon!

??? - Working as the bodyguard for a horse merchant in Kinley; Prihine's father sees them fending off bandits and decides to hire them on the spot to protect his daughter while she makes her journey to Haven to be married.

Will we get a chance in the game to address our lifespans if we choose a human RO? I’m curious how it’s handled in this world!

If you mean a Norm RO (they're technically all human lol), the lifespan comes up with only two people (Shery and Riel) and not the others, namely because of MC's mixed blood: they don't actually know how long they're going to live! It could be just as long as their Norm partners or much longer, so it's just a theoretical question that comes up but not like a huge concern. Also, the Shepherds' profession is so dangerous that they're more worried about being killed in action prematurely than outliving their Norm SOs!
