Anonymous: When did Chase work as an assassin? 

Answer: Chase started out as an assassin pretty much from when he was a young teen. He worked as an assassin for his 'adoptive father,' a quasi-merchant-ganglord who took him in from the streets as a young child not out of charity, but pretty much for the purposes of raising him to be a personal servant/killer who was totally dependent on him and who could be disposed of easily if Chase ever became a liability. Chase was not his adoptive son in any legal sense, more of a ward, but was treated generally as a servant who killed out of loyalty to the man who had given him clothing and food and shelter. However, as he grew older, his constant life of bloodshed made him extremely detached from his emotions and from other people, and he grew to loathe himself without truly realizing it. He considered himself to be a soulless husk, a rabid dog, etc. One day he saw the ganglord brutally beating another servant and just... snapped. Afterwards he ran away, joining a corsair crew to avoid the authorities and spending a few years out on the open seas. This is where he learned to become his own person and the meaning of true freedom (which is why he is extremely averse to commitment or anything he perceives as 'tying him down' or keeping him in one place). After a mutiny aboard his ship, however, he once again ducked out and traveled the Continent, eventually finding himself in Haven... where a woman he met named Saya got him involved with the Thieves' Guild!

Anonymous:  How does Naolin (yay for choosing his name!) feel about Halek? In a classic soap opera situation, it'll be Naolin who falls in love with the fiance Moonsilk...

Answer: Haha, I think Naolin's feelings about Halek (and vice-versa) are... complicated, as has been the case with every set of twin brothers I know (and weirdly, I'm just now realizing I know a lot)? Halek was born first of the twins, to very auspicious omens that the Hunters took as prophesying that he would be the messiah of the Hunters. He has grown up with that yoke and expectation on him since the moment he drew breath. Naolin, meanwhile, is just as loved by his parents, but his role is seen more as "reigning his brother in" when Halek strays from the path or ducks out of his duties to go take a nap somewhere. Halek is the savior, Naolin is more like his brother's keeper. 

However, I think both Naolin and Halek know that Naolin is probably more suited to lead the Hunters than Halek is. Had Halek not been born with this prophecy hanging over his head, I do think he would not have turned out as lackadaisical and indolent as he currently is. But he was, and because Naolin did not have those expectations forced on him, he turned out to be the more responsible and sensible one. He's willing to take on leadership, or at least share it with his brother, but at the same time he's grateful it's not him who has that crushing responsibility, but at the same time resents Halek a little bit for it and is envious, but at the same time loves him dearly?? 

Like I said: complicated.

As for Moonsilk, Naolin definitely tolerates her much more than Halek does and can see things from her perspective; they get along fine and politely when in each other's company, but no romantic feelings between them have blossomed--particularly because Naolin knows she's his brother's fiancee and Moonsilk has her eye on being the Chieftain's wife, not marrying some random who's related to him!

Anonymous:  Okay, I'll be the one to bite the bullet... who is Briony?? What can you tell us about her?? 

Answer: I'll tell you with the caveat that her character is still very much in development and anything I say is subject to change (and most likely will)! BIG SPOILERS AHEAD!

Briony is a Diminished slave that the MC encounters in a later chapter of the game, when they're sent to infiltrate an underground sort of gladiator's arena where Diminished are forced to fight each other for the amusement of spectators. She's the current reigning champion of that arena, but how she ended up there is a mystery to everyone, including herself. All she remembers is that she was found washed up on a beach on the southern coast with a bad head wound, amidst the debris and wreckage of what seems to be a sunken ship. She has amnesia and only remembers her first name and how to use her powers: she's a powerful Battle-Mage with pretty explosive abilities.

She also carries a flaming sword that no one can lift but her. Also, mercenaries are on the hunt for her and constantly try to capture her for unknown reasons. When she's recruited, much of her character arc/storyline will entail recovering her lost memories and where she came from. Players will have to choose between helping Briony uncover her history (and all the connections and problems that come with it...) or encouraging her to start a new life completely... but some ghosts don't just stay in the past!

Briony's personality is generally bubbly, happy-go-lucky, warm, empathetic, and a bit emotional (she's touched easily and will bawl at seeing a bird fly for the first time, etc) and is generally just a fun and bright presence to have around, despite the traumatic circumstances the Shepherds find her in (this, however, can be a mask, as she believes she needs to keep up a strong front for others). She's not overly-concerned about her amnesia but does consider it a hassle when mercs keep coming after her. I guess she's kind of like a cross between a cheerful girl and an airhead? However, she can be stubborn and hard-headed and--when backed into corners--a killer instinct comes out and she becomes a ferocious hard-hitter who will stop at nothing to survive, despite the fact that she is almost as small and petite as Shery. Her magic is explosive and she can have trouble regulating it when she gets particularly emotional or riled up (another thing MC can address in her character route). She can seem naive or passive, is fiercely protective of her friends, and is generally agreeable so long as you phrase what you say somewhat carefully. She does NOT like to be bossed around and will dig her heels in if you 'command' her to do anything she doesn't particularly want to do...

JMH: If you have it nailed down, what does Briony look like? Basic personality?

Answer: I tried my best to throw together some concepts of how I envision her! I do waver between pink or black hair, but the pink is really growing on me!

Answer:

...okay there is no way I can describe any of these by text and I refuse to use the stupid names like "the Python" or "Taurus" so I'm just gonna,,, do my best and maybe link diagrams gflkgjfkljfl I'm sorry... Also, this diagram site is very limited and ridiculous, so please assume the positions I'm describing apply to all genders where applicable! Ignore any tags and just use the charts as a general position of limbs...

Blade: generally variations of missionary where he's on top and she's either wrapped around him or with her legs spread!

Trouble: he's pretty easygoing, so he'll favor any position that keeps him as close to MC as possible!

Tallys: generally spooning/sideways sex where her back is to MC (or MC's back is to her, depending on what she feels like that day...): like this or this!

Shery: oral... I'M SORRY I CAN'T TAKE THESE NAMES THIS ONE IS CALLED THE INQUISITOR AND I'M LOSING IT 

Riel: MC on top while he's laying down on his back so they're face-to-face 

Chase: depends on his mood, but he tends to favor from behind in a dominant position or 69!

Red: he likes that wall sex or sex while standing!

Ayla: positions where she is the one kneeling but in control , particularly during oral!

Lavinet: what's the name for this--like... aphrodite or lap sex where she's sitting on his lap or between his legs and resting her back on his chest!

Croelle: very dominant, somewhat aggressive, tending to trap MC against a wall and have his way with them or, like, power top them...
