Music Poll

Hi everybody, I hope your March is going well! :)

I know this is a goal to be unlocked in the future, but I couldn't stop thinking about one thing...

Music!

I'd love to explore commissioning just one other song for the game, like the Opening/Credits Song a while back, and because I'm not very musically inclined, I'd love your input!

Let's vote below on what song we should try and compose next, and if you have any ideas for how your choice might sound (Trouble's song would be sort of cowboy twangy with a guitar or something, Tallys's would have slow piano, etc.), please leave your thoughts in the comments below! Real-life songs as examples would be great, too!🎡🎢🎹🎼

And if we ever unlock that goal, I'd like to do more songs as well! πŸ˜‚

(2/2) MERCHANT: Should be a string instrument! I'm a sucker for strings but also strings are just perfect for showing off walking/fast pace movement! I think it could work as a balancer between both sides. I'm not sure how to explain that very well but...!! SMOKETOWN: This one is definitely visual-based, but it could be a wind instrument. Maybe something strong so you know it's there in the song, but it's very fleeting. It just pops in and out occasionally throughout the whole piece! ASHTOWN: Percussion instrument all the way! It's kinda the foundation of Haven---from the ashes we shall grow again yadda yadda LASTLY: .... since Haven used to be a city called Magus....... (πŸ‘β€πŸ—¨ πŸ‘„ πŸ‘β€πŸ—¨) there should be a sound (maybe something akin to a heartbeat or something breaking) lurking beneath the rest of the instruments? So that you can either have a fun drop later on that uses every other element to overpower Sun Court instrument OR do a B Side version of Haven. Ex. The chanting/vocal harmonization would no longer be supporting SC and it sounds more like spell casting & Ashtown's powerful beat would be the focus now!

(1/2) Haven's so important to the game that it definitely deserves its own theme, I think! As for examples, the DOS2 soundtrack & Elsaine (specifically Death of the Artist) comes to mind. I'm not versed in music terminology but I'm pretty visual when it comes to sound so (I apologize in advance if this makes little to no sense!!!): Haven by its design is a "stacked" city. It has its districts, so I think whatever instruments you go for should "stack" on top of one another. I'm thinking more in terms of perfumery, but there are some similarities between the two, what with notes. SUN COURT: A regal but light and airy sound. Warm instrument, kind of citrus-y but overall powerful. WHITESTONE: It could assist or amplify the Sun Court's instrument/sound. Maybe something that "echoes" or even religious chanting. Subtle though, not enough to take away from the Sun Court itself.
