I confess I was never too wild about the helm being described as having a dragon on top, but what'll ya do. ;) Floss is right, it's one of the few things/artifacts that Tolkien ever describes. I based the design on Viking helmet of the Vendel period; they had these sorts of visors, and Viking rings very dwarven to me. :)

2015-05-06 03:03:15 +0000 UTCThe Dragonhelm was probably made in Nogrod by Telchar (sorry names from memory and its a tad flakey) it's described as being of Dwarven style having a visor. Thats about all I can remember without having The Silmarillion to hand or diving into HoME or UT

2015-05-06 03:02:14 +0000 UTCI've been reading Spenser's Faerie Queene, and I can't help but notice the dragon helm is reminiscent of Arthur's helmet, which is described as having a gold dragon curled about it. Just curious, does Tolkien offer a description of the Dragon Helm of Dor Lomin anywhere? I don't remember off the top of my head. Also, the leaves on Beleg's tunic are pretty nifty. I'm a big fan of wood elves wearing forest motif garb.
