Spring Thranduil
Added 2015-09-10 12:31:56 +0000 UTCHere is is, in all his vernal glory. Another colour scheme I've never done before, but I like the cool tones in there. Spring, for me, is more about cold blues than warm sun. That doesn't come before late May.

Let me think - the main component would have been Lavender from Tintoretto, a fairly little-known brand. It's one of the few opaque colours on my palette - it's got loads of opaque white and looks quite chalky and bright purple when painted undiluted, but very creamy when used with a lot of water. The shadows would have been a mix of Ultramarine, Indigo and probably some darker purple.

It's almost like you can feel all the different textures, hair, skin, cloth, flowers, branches, through the paper. I love it!!!!! I think this is the first Thranduil that seems gentler which goes with the thawing of winter. Like a small moment of peace after one battle and before the next.
