I suck at architecture, so much of the first two days of working on this were spent looking for reference photos I did myself (to avoid copyright problems). After I'd looked at and discarded all the photos I took in Rome, Speyer, Aachen, or elsewhere, I found a photograph I took inside Hintze Hall in the Natural History Museum in London, which works great for Elven/Valinorean architecture!

Makes you wonder if some of those stunningly ornate buildings inspired some of the descriptions of places like Menegroth.
