Video poll

Thanks a lot for your insights about video-watching! You'd help me a bunch if you'd just add your voice to this poll, to help me see how you all feel about videos. They're the single most time-intensive thing I'm doing (apart from art, hee) and to know more about this would be immensely helpful.

Please note: with "videos", I mean my timelapses. Livestreams are difficult to schedule, but don't really cost me any time!

More than one answer is possible!

New Patron shoutout! Welcome, Avril Sauquet! :)

I am late to the party, but I prefer to watch livestreams or timelapses, but am not an avid watcher of either. I am a strange person that feels awkward watching videos of people...if that makes sense.

That's some great insight from all of you, thanks so much! I'll keep all of these in mind for future videos. <3

Now, interestingly, I'm the complete opposite. If the timelapses don't have any voice-over or subtitles then I'm liable to lose interest within the first few minutes.

This this this this, please. ^^

I've thrown my "ballot" in the "I'm just not a video-watching type" basket, so feel free to ignore anything and everything I might nonetheless feel entitled to opine on the subject :-) Having said that, I might be interested in seeing a video in which you offer something more akin to a review or analysis of your own work - explaining the "why" behind the major choices and what this or that detail signifies to you. If you have done such a video before, I am afraid I have to confess that I've missed it, and please point me in the right direction.

I'll clarify my vote I think :) I do like time lapses and live streams, but tutorials would be very helpful and are something that I could probably watch at my own leisure rather than a set time. I live in an area where the timing doesn't usually work out for me to watch the live streams...too early for me unfortunately :( I try to catch them when I can though! I love watching you work..in whatever format you choose to share :)

I struggle to make time to watch videos. I drive a lot, and so most of the media I consume is in the form of podcasts which don’t work for a visual medium. I do enjoy watching your timelapse videos when I have the time. I’ve never watched a livestream since most of them happen while I am at work. A couple more notes: I’m less likely to watch tutorials than timelapse. I prefer the timelapse videos that don't have voiceover or written explanations. Since I'm not a visual artist, I just like the magic of watching the picture appear.

I can't pick between 'I like the livestreams better than timelapse' and 'I like timelapse better than livestreams' - I enjoy the livestreams on the occasions I can make them work with my schedule, but I like the timelapse videos too!

Voted. I always find watching videos a complicated undertaking: I have to have the time, the screen and, usually, the sound (headphones or speakers and a consideration for anyone who might be affected by sound), I would also have to make sure I can concentrate for an uninterrupted stretch of time, so watching while at work, for example, isn't really feasible. After all of this, it often feels like watching videos isn't worth the effort. The videos I usually do watch are on my Facebook mobile feed (they also auto-start as I scroll) and, importantly, have subtitles so that I don't have to worry about the whole sound thing..

I've voted above, but just in case it makes no sense... I struggle to find time to watch videos, but I always try to make time for yours as they just watch like magic. I will absolutely understand if you choose to sacrifice them for more actually-drawing time, but I'd prefer you do fewer than none at all. (I don't currently find you do too many for me to keep up with, but that seems like a very personal preference thing anyway.)
