I wouldn't call myself a huge fan either. I loved the first three books, read them all in one go fifteen years ago. Book four and five were just chores; I didn't get through any of them. The series does a lot of things better, I think; in particular, as I mentioned above, it made me grasp Daenerys, who had completely eluded me. I was going to say that that was because the actress wasn't thirteen, but then I remembered this incredible kid playing Lyanna Mormont and now I'm quiet XD

2018-06-13 08:53:07 +0000 UTCI am not a huge fan of ASoIaF, but I have read it (or, to be precise, listened to audio books) and, as with Tolkien, I appreciate seeing art illustrating the book rather than the adaptation. Though here it seems that Dany is much closer to the show version than Jon. :-)

2018-06-12 22:15:57 +0000 UTCI had zero connection to Dany while reading the books. I was trying to imagine all the kids as being in the classes I was teaching at the time. They all worked in their age groups. Robb and Jon were marvellous eighth-graders; Arya was a fantastic scrawny vicious little fifth-year, Theon was that utterly insecure and bullyish pimply kid in Year ten. Only Dany didn't work. I neither felt nor saw her in a Year seven. Show-Dany worked extremely well (probably because she wasn't thirteen). But I can see why anyone would dislike her. I like Emilia Clarke a lot more than I do Dany. ;)

2018-06-12 18:27:27 +0000 UTCI know I'm in minority with this opinion. But Dany should be dead or worse and paring her with Jon Snow doesn't feel right. On artistic note I can't wait to see this pice finnished. As I adore the cold and warm contrasts of oposing characters
