And also a suggestion piece! Trying a wetter, looser approach, and remembering that a wet approach already means that a "quick" piece will be a very, very slow piece, because drying times, hee.

You certainly noticed there was relatively little art over the summer; the reason for this is that my eyes don't permit me much. My ophthalmologist has pretty much given up my right eye as a bad job; so the solution he's pushing for is that my left eye needs to take over. Which sounds easier than it is. My left eye has been pretty much a cosmetic add-on for the last four decades of my life, and is utterly bewildered that anyone would expect it to do some occasional seeing. Meaning I have to force my brain to activate my left eye, which means double vision, headaches and exhaustion by 3 pm every day, and that, of course, means pretty little that I can do with my time.

I'm trying to do this, and get rewire my brain to compensate, but that will take a while, during which you may feel you're not getting much out of your Patronage. If you feel that way, please feel totally free to downgrade or drop out! This month has already seen a bit of an exodus, and I want you to know that I want nobody to stay because they feel compelled to. I don't want to turn this into some sort of "Gofundme", mainly because I'm lucky to live in a country where medical bills don't equate to financial ruin, and that definitely fills me with a great amount of gratitude. So if you're still fine with sponsoring me with possibly reduced rewards, yay (and more gratitude to boot)! But if there's any nagging "Yeah, but what's in it for me?" at the back of your head, I'd rather you left happy and gratefully than staying on grudgingly!

To all those still staying (happily?), thank you =)

Aaaaand let us not forget those who have recently joined us! Welcome, Annapurna and Myla

Gute Besserung Jenny. Ich halte die Daumen, dass die Umstellung klappt.

Haha, OMG - you are the first. I seriously hadn't thought of that. "And she lived to wield her art with left eye more deadly than her right had been", lol!

An interesting picture! I am sad to hear about your eye problems, it is bad for an artist. I hope you will be successful in making good use of your left eye - at least as much as certain Noldorin prince who faced a similar problem concerning his hands (I am probably not the first one who suggested that comparison:-) )

Hugs!

I know - especially realising it's not going to go away just like that. :/

Jenny Dolfen

Thank you!!

Jenny Dolfen

Aw, thank you, Krista! Since the early 2000s - wow, that's long. I haven't been on the Internet much before that!

Jenny Dolfen

I'm sorry to hear that your eye is still giving you trouble :( I hope that your left eye will start picking up the slack and that you will see a significant change with that. As for being here..I don't intend on going anywhere. I love being able to support you and I think you do an amazing amount(and beautiful work) given this hasn't been a full time job and considering your eye. If I was to go, it would only be because I couldn't afford it anymore, and I would be very sad. Hugs to you Jenny <3

Sommer Sorenson

Oh no D= I'm so sorry to hear about your eyes, Jenny!

This is beautiful! Love the colours! Staying happily, for this is not about waiting to receive something in return. This is just one small way to say "Thank you!", for your art has increased the amount of beauty in my life (and upon my walls! :-) ).It has been so great to see that the characters of the books I have loved for so long have gained faces and personalities through the hand of one who, very obviously, loves them, respects them and feels for them.

I'm really sad to hear the eye problem is persistant. Such things are scary for everyone, but for an artist there is that extra worry, and longing to make more art which remains unsatisfied. I hope your other eye can pick up its new duty soon! As for patronage, I've known your work since the LOTR movies came out and have been a fan since, so basically I'm here for the long run no matter what. Appreciating art is not about the amount of pieces you get to see. It's about appreciating the beauty of it, and seeing the heart that's been put into a piece. Good luck with both the health issue and getting your kicks out of creating art even under changing circumstances!

Krista

Aw, that's great to hear! I know this is the case for a lot of people, perhaps more than I think. <3

Jenny Dolfen

I'm glad to hear you say that!

Jenny Dolfen

You're the best, Steve!

Jenny Dolfen

Aw, thank you so much, Ellen.

Jenny Dolfen

Hope your left eye gets in shape soon! As for the Patreon support, to me it's a way to give something back to the creators and artists I've admired throughout the years. I don't really expect anything in return for my small patronage, although of course the perks are nice.

Päivi Osmaja

Thinking of you, Jenny. Not going anywhere--love your art and your patreon and happy to be part of it.

PL

Hang in there, Jenny. We're not going away.

Steven Tryon

Your art is wonderful. You are a kind, interesting, and talented person (as far as I can see from another continent -- but people are known by their words and action, no?) I am here because I support your lovely artistry, NOT because I expect you to perform on schedule or command! Thinking positive thoughts about your eye!

"Blade" McMicking, D.I.
