Lúthien pin design and Elven Easter eggs

They say you should get straight back into a car after an accident. I'll extend the metaphor to designing your next pin straight after a train wreck of a production line. ;)

The good thing is that, with his horrible zombie smurf pin, I learned LOADS of useful things. One, my lines can be way, way thinner than I thought and still look fantastic. Two, I need a pantone book. I hope I'll be able to somehow manage light Elven skin.

Talking about light Elven skin, over twenty years ago, I spent Easter with my parents and my mother and I painted Easter eggs. I did about ten Silmarillion-themed eggs, We soon found that brown eggs give you a nice skin tone without having to paint one, and my mother, who never turns down a bit of mother-daughter-nerdiness, had a devious amount of fun walking up to shop assistants asking, "Excuse me, can you help me find very light-skinned eggs? They're for Elves, you see."

To this day, I think of very light brown eggs as Elf-eggs.

Ohmygosh so amazing!

I think about half of them have survived... when we painted them, we had two cats. Then, in our respective households, there have been five more. Paula, Samson, Tinker, Kintaro, Mikesch, Isis and Loki and those eggs didn't mix particularly well...

Those eggs are impressive! I'd be waaaay to afraid of them breaking to paint my favourite characters on them. I've done some Easter eggs with Númenórean carpet designs, but actual fanart? Nooo! XD

Lyra

Oh and I want one of those eggs, dammit. ;)

What a gorgeous Pinúviel! :D

She is really beautiful, great composition and design of the hair, I love this. And the story about the eggs is fun, I am glad you shared it. It is nice to see what you did with them.

Matěj Čadil

That's excellent! And what a beautiful new pin-design! You're right, the best thing to do after this sort of disaster is to take advantage of it to learn something new that would hopefully limit the risks of a new disaster

Litsen

She is sooooo beautiful! And those eggs! What fun :)

Or the gold lines mess up the light/dark feel since the lineart is supposed to be darker - that's my biggest worry about using gold instead of bronze. It's part of why I did her in profile; it's easier to read without many lines. And Beren's beard wouldn't have worked in a front view :)

I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of the "ear through hair" style! I love her look she way it is :)

Jenny Dolfen

She is just so breathtakingly beautiful!

The thinner lines look good. Too heavy and you get a stained-glass look or just a mass of black.

She's gorgeous! I love all the flowing lines of her hair. Are you not going to have her ear peeking through her hair so it's clear she's an elf? I'm just a big fan of pretty elven ears! But I can see how an ear might throw off the composition a little.
