Beren pin (now with Lúthien)
Added 2019-03-31 20:04:01 +0000 UTCWhen I first read the Silmarillion at age seventeen, I couldn't really connect with Beren. Here was this gorgeous Elven princess who could have had any handsome Elf she wanted - and she chose a scruffy human?
Four years later, I met a guy with whom I had the nerdiest first date in history - a friend of ours had hooked us up because he had borrowed my Silmarillion comic (through the friend) and now gave it back to me in person. We talked at the Uni cafeteria for hours until it closed, then went to my place and created D&D characters. His was named Beren.
I finally started to see what Lúthien saw in him. And Beren finally acquired a face. (Though the beard is a more recent acquisition.) We've been married for eighteen years now. ;)

2019-04-02 14:28:26 +0000 UTCSo nice! :) Lúthien is gorgeous and Beren is... scruffy and cute. His neck kind of looks huge to me though? I didn’t notice until third viewing but now I can’t stop noticing... I think it’s that curve in the back that’s making me see it strangely.

(Even then, I was quite impressed by his e-mail address - since I could recognise and understand both the Sindarin and the character it was describing...)
