I've been less productive than I've wanted - I was going to start the Galadriel commission as well, but life and my eyes aren't being very cooperative at the moment. :( I want to get the next pin designs on the way by next Wednesday, so I can be sure to have them for Tolkien Days in mid-June.
I lovelovelove the Glorpindel. I went for him instead of Éomer/Gandalf because Glorfindel is so wonderfully unproblematic with regard to copyright (having reliably dropped out of every film in existence, ha).
The Eagles should also be totally unproblematic. Copyright-wise, I mean. I wouldn't advise for them to be worn on a loose-knit cardigan. XD
I'm not sure about the Professor; I just consulted with the Tolkien Society for that.
Maglor and Fingon will also be in the next batch. I really want to include Finrod too, but am having a hard time designing one. Right now, my wip is of him with the crown on his head. I wanted to do him taking it off, but it just looked as if he had a bad headache. XD Maybe with the crown in his hands, before his chest, rather than on his head. Or other ideas?

Which of these are you looking forward to the most? <3 I'm dying to see the Glorfindel one. And I want to unite Fingon with Maedhros. ;)

2019-05-10 02:00:23 +0000 UTCNo - Shaun agreed he's obviously based on that famous photo, and the map will cause problems. I'll think of something non-infringing. Getting official permission is tough - I'd rather keep flying under the radar, by using designs that don't encroach on film-space.

2019-05-08 20:00:53 +0000 UTCThe Estate isn't a problem - they leave all the legal stuff to the rights-holders (Warner Bros, Amazon) these days, and those are quite C&D-happy if anything falls into their territory. I've been okay with the Silmarillion, but I'm even more careful these days to avoid anything that encroaches too much on movie-space.
