Utúlië'n Aurë! lineart in progress

I sense a Bert or two coming in the background.

Which would theoratically be possible. He could be part of Fingolfin's people, and have fled to Gondolin with Turgon after the battle.

Thanks for all the Discord feedback - it seems there is a large group of people here who'd like to be in! I'll set that up over the coming week or so.

Another thought that occurred to me when I revisited this scene recently on the Prancing Pony Podcast - What did Beleg and Mablung think of Quenya being spoken there by Fingon? It must have felt much like the Forbidden Tongue to them.

For this piece, I've returned to mechanical pencil. I've found a .2 (!!) from Pentel that actually works because you don't advance the lead beyond the nib. All others under .5 always break because apparently, I have a very sturdy grip when I pencil. O_o

Happy Fingon?? My crops have been watered...

Yeah, I'm glad to be able to return to chainmail again! All that plate armour was a bit too much. XD

Oh, Jenny, Fingon is heartbreaking in this portrait. In all the best ways of course; seeing it brought tears to my eyes (and heart). I’m not a cryer, so great job! I confess to liking your Elven, uh, men decked out for war. Ahem. Fingon has never been in my Top 10 Silmarillion Elves Who Die Tragically, but your portrait makes me think I may need to revisit said list....

I see it as defiance but also perhaps it is just a return to the language of his youth, the language of hope, the sight of Turgon taking him mentally back to a better time and the words that came to him in that powerful moment were Quenya. And Jenny this is simply beautiful ❤️

I LOVE my .2 mm. Love it so much. <3

Pentel 0.5mm pencils are my wordprocesser of choice. 😸😸😸

This is a very nice-looking happy Fingon, and i love it! i believe he would be rather diplomatic and not use Quenya while speaking to people from Doriath.... The Exilic Noldorin tongue was quite a sensitive spot at that time xD

Litsen

Yeah, definitely no double entendre there on Húrin's part. I don't think Fingon would have meant it a an insult either - that's just not like him. Defiance, maybe. One last "This is who are; we made mistakes, but we're standing strong." Sniff.

I've been wondering about the Quenya as well! It has always felt like a bit of a raised middle finger towards Doriath... Húrin can be excused for Not Knowing Better (they probably used Quenya liberally in Gondolin), but Fingon definitely knew what he was doing... One last look at the Most Valiant! *sniffles*
