Nerdanel, Feanor, and Finduilas, I think; Barbarians, pointed eaes, and a Q&A hangout!

Galadriel turned into someone else during the colouring (you won't believe how often this happens. Especially with beautiful, light-haired women, strangely). I think she's Finduilas. I'm really happy with Nerdanel and Feanor though. Fenaor indeed looks less angry than in later life, and I've managed to capture what I think is important for Nerdanel - the non-classic beauty that I nonetheless love to paint, freckles and all. 

I also did the D&Dormouse Barbarian last night; only the Wizard to go now, and then the batch can go into production! <3 

For MarchofMaedhros today, a funny little thing I dug up from 1994. The text translates to: ""And what did I just read in 'Lost Road'? 'Quendian ears are more pointed than human'? I hate to bring it up, but that is terribly humiliating!!! I'll stick with normal ears!!!!" 

For me, pointed ears were the epitome of the Fantasy art I really hated in the eighties and nineties. Think AD&D covers. I would never have got into D&D if my gateway drug hasn't been MERP, with the wonderful, historical-looking covers of Angus McBride. Back in the nineties, I could rant about Fantasy art all day long. I think it played a huge role in my persuing art - I wanted to see if I could do better, or at least more faithfully to my own vision. 

Once I'd established that, I found that slightly pointed ears were no detriment to an Elf's dignity. It might have been the Elfwood days, too - they'd delete my art if Elf ears weren't pointed. Aaaah, Elfwood. 

I also plan to do a little Patreon community Q&A next week! Now that I'm an absolute video conference pro, I feel that's a better format for a community hangout than Discord. Let's try it! Everyone of Into the Forest and up is invited. We'll do it via Webex; that has a stable connection, you only have to click a link, you don't need to sign up or anything. Just click and hang out. It's what we use at school. It'll be sometime early evening my time. We can talk about art, and Tolkien, or rodents, anything you want to ask. Should be fun! =D 

(I also had a hairdresser's appointment yesterday so I'm not scared to be visible, haha.)
