More Oxonmoot

I got 11 pieces done at Oxonmoot, and one is left - Fingolfin! If anyone would like him, shoot me a message. ❤️ (EDIT: gone!)

I'm still rather jet lagged (if that’s possible by train) and exhausted, and had school again this morning, so forgive me if I don't have to add much to the pictures and captions. It's been an incredible weekend, and it was so, so cool to see so many of you there!

The poll results for September art are in, and a young Glorfindel with baby Asfaloth won! Which made Elizabeth, Becca and me wonder at Oxonmoot whether Elf animals are longer-lived than their normal counterparts, and how Elves feel outliving animals at an even faster rate than humans…

Thanks so much, Tanya! I knew we could always count on you for deep and obscure lore. ❤️

Good to hear that you had fun at Oxonmoot. I think I can answer your question about “elven” animals. I don’t think they were specifically “elven” animals. I think they were Valinorien animals. In Valinor the rate of growth and decay of all living things (other then the elves, of course) was adjusted by the Valar to Valarien time, which is to say each unit of their time was muuuuch longer then its counterpart in Middle-earth. (Tolkien change these lengths a lot so I won’t give any exact numbers here.) So any animals that were brought from Valinor, and probably their descendants, were very long-loved by Middle-earthen standards. And we know that the Noldor brought horses with them. Asfaloth probably either descended from these horses or even came together with Glorfindel from over the sea.

It was lovely to see you again at Oxonmoot. I saw so many people wearing your beautiful pins there (including myself).
