2023-04-26 00:20:49 +0000 UTCThey are all connected to the tengu they are often dipicted with the fan looking like monks some depictions saying they were monks before and the difference in personallys could be a reference to the varying ways they have been represented in myth varyind from being territorial monsters to messengers of the gods and teachers who taught swordsmanship to a famous historical figure (sorry I forgot the figures name)

2023-04-25 20:12:23 +0000 UTCGods dang this show is so good lol but the staff is a Buddhist monk staff, and you caught onto the harpie. I'm not sure they're connected in the same pantheon of folklore but I think they're connected in the type of power. There's folklore of a type of Youkai that takes the shape of a monk and when they hit the ground with it and make it jingle, the sound of the bells is like a blast, and it's been associated with lightning. Harpies also use their voice to sound blast so I think the connection is sound.
