I never would have known that about the Cleveland Browns. Maybe I should try to stream their defense in fantasy this week.

You were definitely right about the Browns defense. They've allowed the least amount of yards of any team in the last 50 years through the first 5 games. They're historically good right now.
Great seeing you react to my favorite team in football. Go Brownies! 🐶🟤🟠

Hey man…don’t doubt yourself so much. I think you understand this game perhaps a little more than you realize. You’re catching on quite quickly and it’s impressive. The game itself is quite simple to comprehend, it just has a lot of extra stuff. You got the basics for the most part. Sure, not everything is perfect but it’s okay…this is what, your fourth football game ever? You’re doing great.

So you asked about the kick. In football, wether high school, college or professional, you know about the four downs to get ten yards. On fourth down if you don’t make the yards you need to get the full ten yards you turn the ball over to the other team at that exact position on the field. Teams have three options on fourth down. If they are a long ways away from the end zone, where touchdowns are scored, they will just kick the ball away to the other team and try to kick as far towards the other end of the field as they can to make it harder for the other team to score, and make it so there’s further down the field that they gotta go to score the touchdown. The second option is to kick the field goal. A field goal isn’t something given by a penalty, but rather it’s a scoring option. To have a successful field goal, worth three points, you have to kick it between the posts and over the crossbar. You make the kick 18 yards behind wherever the offense is. So, if the team is on fourth down at, say, the 22 yard line…that is 22 yards from the end zone… the kicker has to kick the ball from the 40 yard line. The third option on fourth down is to go for it and try to reach the line to gain to get a fresh set of downs. This is uncommon and typically only happens late in the game if the team is trailing and if three points does them no good or if they don’t have enough time to give the other team the ball because they need to make a come back. Some coaches are starting to get more aggressive though so this is becoming more common early in the game.
