I'm amazed more people don't pick that up when I know they've seen Eva! It's such an iconic phrase. I only point it out when I think/know the person has watched Evangelion though.

(Very fun anime when you have seen all the anime featured and can understand the jokes (Overlord, Tanya The Evil, Re:Zero, Konosuba.)

2024-08-05 20:55:32 +0000 UTCWell I can kinda see where they are coming from, some people only read the subtitles and only look for emotion and tone in what the characters are saying but not what they are saying. Also with Japanese it’s kinda hard because the way the sentences are made are grammatically different then ours so sometimes the subtitles would say “How was your day Ram?” but in the Japanese language it’s more like “Ram, how was your day?” so they say Ram at the beginning of the sentence and not where they would expect it to because of the subtitles and how we setup our sentences. And I think it’s kinda funny the ways they completely say their names wrong from time to time😭

I’m not sure if it’s intentional or not, but saying this phrase is kind of a Japanese way of saying ‘I love you’. Of course, Emilia wouldn’t know it though, but I could guess that it was pretty important to say for Subaru

Subaru woke up alone in this manor, he goes to Beatrice, she tortures him for a bit and he passes out, then he wakes up with the maids, where his restart point is. And btw right now he's been presented as a mysoginistic incompetent horndog who makes a faux pas every time he speaks and still thinks of this world as a game(his npc comment), remember that he's a shut-in, that kind of lifestyle can easily lead to a person like him
