2024-06-20 05:41:15 +0000 UTCOof.. this is so difficult.. if Rudy didn't go, I think Paul would still be alive and Zenith still a crystal, but he would've also lost Roxy and she would've died.. but I'm scared to see the reasons at home why Man-God suggested he stay. I feel like there's worse things coming as well since Rudy left

2024-06-20 05:28:04 +0000 UTCA few details and clarifications to make things clearer: - About Rudy and Zenith. As a reincarnate, Rudy never really saw Paul and Zenith as parents. Often, they didn't have a parent-child relationship (remember his discussions with Paul, who yelled at him without listening to Rudy's side of the story, or when he talks about Lilia and the baby with Zenith). Besides, he only spent his younger years with them. He's spent more years without them, and he hasn't seen Zenith in 9 years. Rudy is definitely attached to them, but because of his reincarnated condition and the long separation since he was 7, he can't have the relationship you imagine. What's more, the anime doesn't go into as much detail about their complex relationship as in the Light Novel. Paul is often annoyed by Rudy's aloofness, yet at the same time he has the greatest admiration for his son, whom he considers exceptional, and a much better person than he is. And don't forget that Rudy spent several years alone and depressed searching for Zenith in the North; that he's here risking his life, leaving his pregnant wife, 2 little sisters and friends...for Paul and Zenith. And he wanted his entire family to be reunited in his mansion. A sign that he really cares about them. - Back at the inn, Rudy's grief at Paul's death makes him think about what he didn't feel when his parents died in his old life, and he regrets, once again, having been such an asshole. - About Paul's words...Paul is obviously not asking his son to die for his mother, Paul is asking the man he admires most in the world to give his full potential, to act without the fear of death...knowing that he, Paul, will be there to protect Rudy. So yes, the words themselves shouldn't be spoken from a father to his son, but their meaning is filled with trust, faith and esteem of a father in need, and resolute. - Paul's body was burned to avoid transformation due to the circulation of mana/curse. Rudeus placed the ashes in an urn to be buried near his home. - About Zenith. you'll learn more about her condition. And you can't guess what it's like. By the way, contrary to what a translation error in a previous ep suggested, during the Mana Disaster Zenith was teleported directly into the crystal. So she's been there since the teleportation incident in the 1st season. Was it worth it to save her when she's in this condition and at the cost of Paul's life? As Paul tells Rudy, it doesn't matter if she's dead or alive in this crystal. And so no matter what her condition was, what mattered was doing something for her. - As for the regrets the Man God was talking about. Basically, if Rudy hadn't gone, would things have been different? Better? Worse, probably? What really would have been different? - The anime is less obvious than the light novel on some things. During the fight Rudy has difficulty with his eye, the present and future of 9 heads make it difficult to understand what he sees. And at the moment of the accident, when it had only one head left, the hydra began to attack unpredictably with all those sharp-scaled necks.

2024-06-20 00:24:45 +0000 UTCMaybe Paul gives up, Paul is alive. Probably Zenith can be saved later, but Roxy is for sure dead. Let's say he knew that he knew that Paul was gonna die, he'd try and do it without him but due to fate or however the author puts it - that would have still caused Paul's death. I feel like it would have been an inevitable incident in my headcannon

2024-06-19 23:49:13 +0000 UTCThat was a translation error in episode 20, in the WN/LN it's explained that the teleportation incident teleported her into the mana crystal of that dungeon directly and she was first sighted by a party a couple years ago and she's been trapped all 6 years. The jp dialogue even says it was just a rumored sighting of her so idk how crunchyroll dropped the ball that hard on the subtitles.

2024-06-19 22:19:24 +0000 UTCI hadn't thought about that. Fair enough >D

2024-06-19 22:00:56 +0000 UTCIf Rudy knew his goddess was gonna die, I don't think it wouldve even been a choice for him 😂

2024-06-19 20:50:03 +0000 UTCAlso Paul's death pose being upside down with arms out is a reference to the painting "Caravaggio" which was the name of their horse at the start of the series that Roxy accidentally struck with lightning

2024-06-19 20:48:46 +0000 UTCI think one thing to keep in mind is that Paul trained with his son daily to keep him in shape when Rudy was young, so even if Zenith was the more nurturing parent, she didn't get the one on one time with him like Paul did. Zenith trained Rudy very little and they immediately hired Roxy to tutor him when he was caught performing magic. The only time Rudy really did spend time with Zenith, was when he was helping take care of her/his sisters. So I think that plays a big role in why Rudy thinks differently about his two parents. Also I think it's nice that he's grown enough throughout the show at he was there when Paul was laid to rest, because in Japan (at the beginning of the show), Rudy was kicked out of his parent's house after skipping their funeral to spend time with his games and porn.

2024-06-19 20:44:19 +0000 UTCI want to add, Zenith hasn't been imprisoned for 6 years. She's been in there for more like two or three years. Remember earlier in the season Paul sent Rudy a letter saying Zenith was labyrinth exploring with a party? Then a few episodes ago Geese mentioned that a party with Zenith in it went missing in the labyrinth a few years prior. Most likely, Zenith stepped into a trap similar to the one Roxy stepped on

2024-06-19 20:13:53 +0000 UTCOkay some explanation is needed since they skipped it in the anime Hydra's scales were as sharp as razor blades so just brushing up against them would tear the flesh off of your arm, Hydra literally sliced Paul in half just by headbutting him, also is the reason why Rudy lost his arm as the eyelid closed around it cutting the bone

2024-06-19 19:49:41 +0000 UTCA little side note on the battle I think it is a cool battle detail that the animation team unfortunately skipped. Rudy did not freeze because he was careless, he was using his future sight demon eye to predict the hydra attacks, but there are "weaknesses" about the eye, which are if you are about to get hit by something that is overwhelmingly larger than you all you can see is pitch black. And the pitch-black Rudy saw from his demon eye confused him which is why he stopped and Paul had to push him away.

2024-06-19 19:19:45 +0000 UTCLet's talk about how badass that fight animation was though lol

2024-06-19 19:10:11 +0000 UTCNow imagine if Rudy DID know the full ramifications of either staying or going to rescue Zenith. Talk about an impossible choice.

2024-06-19 18:58:52 +0000 UTCWell, at least Rudy saved Roxy

2024-06-19 18:46:41 +0000 UTCI couldn’t recall if people turned undead, I know ruijerd talked about it on the demon continent but it’s been so long since I’ve read that part I just remember you burn monsters because they would attract more if you don’t

2024-06-19 18:37:22 +0000 UTCI thought he was just making a juxtaposition about his past and what happened with his own parents

2024-06-19 18:35:58 +0000 UTCno, because they think he would turn undead in the labyrinth

2024-06-19 18:34:34 +0000 UTCPaul’s last final thoughts before dying: "Am I dying?” "I want to confirm if Zenith was alive or not, at least." "Not only that, but Norn and Aisha..." "I wanted to see them again." "Are they going to school?" "Have they grown up?" "Lillia - what kind of reaction will she have to this? Even if it's a pain..." "Will she cry?" "Dammit, I'm filled with regrets." "I don't want to die...' "Still... there are.. still... so many things I wanted to do." Rudy: "Father!" "But.... Oh well..." "It's better than seeing Rudy die." "Chin up, my son. Stay positive..."

2024-06-19 18:13:13 +0000 UTCThis is the only piece of media that actually had me shocked, i saw the hints but i didnt really think they would kill off paul, ON FATHERS DAY

2024-06-19 18:07:01 +0000 UTCRudy is not always a reliable narrator. He could be downplaying his feelings for Zenith as a coping mechanism to prepare himself for the worst. Just look at episode 23 of the first season and it clearly shows Zenith means a lot to him. Though I would think he has more of a connection to Paul because he has more interactions with him and gone through more with Paul. We might get more insight next episode, who knows.

2024-06-19 18:06:32 +0000 UTCYou should watch the OP for the last couple episodes, they no longer spoil anything for ya

2024-06-19 18:02:56 +0000 UTCI found this comment on /r/anime "Fun fact, remember that Rudeus named his arms Hulk and Heracles early in this season right? His left left arm is Heracles" Damn...
Sebastian Stróż
2024-06-19 17:56:35 +0000 UTCAlso: note the juxtaposition of Paul telling Rudy to die to save zenith if he had to, as a way of saying “you’re an adult now, there are some burdens you’ll have to bare” and him loving him so much that he went against what he said and saved Rudy at the cost of his own life
Aphelion Audio
2024-06-19 17:50:45 +0000 UTCthey cremated paul there because they wouldnt have been able to carry his body back, as for if rudy could take anything? i mean i guess he couldve taken jewelry and stuff but all he had on him was his gear, which wasnt burnt with him they did take his swords and stuff iirc

2024-06-19 17:46:32 +0000 UTCzenith is basically just mentally gone

2024-06-19 17:44:51 +0000 UTCI’m gonna be honest, I spoiled myself by accident about this among other things. So watching the second part of season two and seeing the hints made it that much harder knowing it’s something that’s gonna happen either way.

2024-06-19 17:32:58 +0000 UTCrudy is more attached to zenith than he let on at first, but, rudy trained with paul so he spent more time with him than with zenith, and was sent away at 7 and hasnt seen her since then, so to him she really would be more someone that he knew than his mom in his head, especially because when he was with her he felt less connected to the world and his family because he had only just been reincarnated

2024-06-19 17:25:53 +0000 UTCInteresting fact, they delayed the show by a week some time ago so this episode lines up with fathers day...
