Dunno if anyone's said this yet, but it cracks me up everytime you call "Pater" "Pay-ter" 🤣 Just in case, Pater isn't actually his name, but his title as a Christian as "Pater" means Father in Germanic languages. (For German, I've always called my father Fa as in Fall, tter. Fater, which I type as Father, but Iceland and Norway use P because they use a slightly different alphabet (nowadays. Not runes but things like Æ, ð, þ ☺️ Have I mentioned language is my crack? Lol) About this episode, honestly seeing this before, I wasn't quite where I am now. I'm pretty sure when I watched this the first time, I was in Thorfinn's revenge stage or his dissociation stage. Seeing this again now, I'm feeling this episode hard in the feels has Thorfinn kinda begins to face his CPTSD and the kind of person he was in darker moments of his life. This is SOOO well portrayed with the nightmares, and you can see that he is turning his hatred on himself because his focus on Askeladd is gone, but negative energy like that doesn't go away when that person does, so we all too often turn it inwards "I'm not strong enough, I'm a monster, Everyone hates me/should hate me, I hate me, I'm just like them" I get a strong sense of those feelings from Thorfinn beginning to form, even if he's not even completely aware he's feeling that way which is just AMAZING storytelling! 🤌 Not only does it help viewers keep track of his emotional development, but it's very accurate too. When you are depressed and dissociated, there's times people aren't aware of their feelings, even as their feelings are overwhelming them, and nightmares, "flashbacks", random bursts of emotion that quickly disappear, is all the brain trying to process, but with a blindfold on. Gah, ok enough geeking lol 😅 I love Thorfinn's story and growth and for real look to him as an example of my own process (not early days, though murdering my problems might be easier lol) Gods, how fast Wesley went from reasonable "Oh ya, you need to be pragmatic, you can't break the law by fighting free men.. just kill them in their sleep and make them think they're cursed. You just have to be pragmatic" 🤣🤣🤣 that turned so fast I was nodding along and had to double take! (Not that I disagree though~ they didn't have forensics. Get the rat poison. Say the color their faces turn is a sign of devilry)

As always, you two are super good with discussions and analysis, and also, you'll get a complete picture of the author's beliefs or message as the season progresses.
