Re:Zero S2 Episode 25

Comments

Haha such a silly scene of Emilia thinking kisses equal babies, totally wholesome and not something that makes the episode "taste of death" even sadder at all, BTW Rosswaal has been using his children as skinsuits and was a woman at one point so he can tell us if giving birth is worse than getting kicked in the balls XD. Weird to think that Emilia not having sex education saved Subaru's corpse from getting graped

Hombredecultura

The light novel will always be worse cuz its a light novel

Marko Genter

that s a VERY dangerous pact to do with yourself , espiecally when the enemy find out about it , rossawal is a very strong combatant if not the strongest in emilia camp , if the enemy want to take him out , they can just use subaru or otto as a hostage shield and rossawal won t be able to do anything unless he want to off himself.

banlungx001

thats what im saying and aknwoledging. They did their best, and they did great. But when im comparing source material and said adaptation, the latter looks poorly to me. They are ideed should be praised for what they have done while adapting. But as a fan of LN, it is pretty sad to see one of the best arcs adaptation reaching only half of the potential

Reminder

Totally agree, especially for S3 it contains important content.

D B

Yeah I thought it was really funny how that skewed their expectations 😂

D B

It's not at all a poor adaptation, they literally bought out the ad space to increase the length of almost every episode. It's just very difficult to condense such an arc into a satisfying 25 episode season, but they truly did the best they could.

D B

Such a poor adaptation, yet still one of the best anime shows out there. The whole "BET" thing with Roswaal had so much more-more meaning and sense and made the readers to be on the edge of their seats way more than they did in anime. They left so many cool details out of this adaptation and they still had a 30 minutes episodes. This whole arc4/season 2 is one of the greatest pieces of writing i've had pleasure to read, yet adaptation was mediocre even with all the love they put into it. Really glad that you are enjoying this show! And what a great reaction and analyses from you for both this seasons, Thanks! Though I recommend you to watch some videos that cover important cut content, but maybe after season 3 ends? Knowing the studio they might just add it in their chibi format mini-show or smth. People here provided some Echidunts videos, they are good to fill the gaps. But of course if you have time and interests in it

Reminder

"What happened to the Ryuzus" haha... yeah

Araragi Senpai

It's funny because season 1 ended 'peacefully' as well with the subaru emilia conversation on the hill but the director's cut added the season 2 carriage scene in the end lmao

ednapls

Yay, Theatrical Malice this week! Don't worry, the next ep's gonna be happy, funny and wholesome...opening the new arc gently. Detail: when Roswaal and Betty are paying homage in the tomb, the Echidna we see is slightly different from the one Subaru/Emilia saw in the castle of dreams, don't you think?

GTB

Ram and Roswaal unrequited love bs still is creepy and disgusting. Edit: “in real life, hell no. “ That’s why I love you guys and why I am here, some people would act holier than thou and pretend like they have the power to forgive such a man.

Devilmaycry- Joker

This ending is so sweet, loved seeing your reaction to it. I'd recommend checking out the Re: Zero Break Time shorts sometime. It's a mini series they air alongside the show containing CANON cut content. You can probably watch them all in like 30 minutes, and it's definitely worth checking out.

D B

42:42 Wes actually guesses that right at the end of the video lol.

D B

Subaru isn't censored by an automatic system, it's the witch. She would never let him do that.

D B

Are you guys going to watch the next season?

Roswaal did his soul transference by getting bodies that were highly attuned to his own. His own family members. So he would live out his life, grow up, have a single child, then when he got old he would transfer his soul into his kid's, killing them so he could have their body. That's why he asked if Beatrice considered him an inhuman monster.

Roswaal was following the directions within his Tome of Wisdom without question, because the Tome—Echidna’s Authority of Greed objectified—is all he could put his faith and trust into without Echidna herself around. Roswaal does not seem to actively know what comes next until he completes the current actions at hand from the Tome, which is why he cries out in agony begging to know what he should do now since the Tome has been destroyed but the snow it told him to create has still been done. So what was the Tome trying to accomplish through all of these actions? My guess is to make Subaru so broken down and hopeless that he would have no choice but to accept Echidna’s deal. Echidna’s body is dead and her idea for immortality did not seem to be perfected until after her death. But if Subaru made the deal, she could essentially live through him in a way. Everything he feels, everything he thinks, everything he does. His Return by Death ability. Echidna would be able to write the story now. Basically. I think Roswaal’s desire is definitely to be reunited with her but I don’t think he knew that much depth of it to be able to know that was how it would have happened. He is not privy to the conversations Subaru and Echidna were having whenever he went to see her.

Hunter

I will now make my traditional recommendation of viewing or reacting to some cut content of this arc. It would be the final chapter of the arc if read, but otherwise Echidnut has made a good video on it that doesn't contain other spoilers. It is a cliffhanger that isn't covered by the next season but rather builds for the endgame. If you want to see it then search for Echidnut's "How Re:Zero Season 2 REALLY Ends", or getting the web novel of volume 15 and read the Appendix chapter "The Advent", basically the final chapter excluding side content. There is additional cut content that also could be interesting, such as details about Subaru's and Beatrice's contract, but this cliffhanger something I cannot let go without comment. Then again staying anime-only works fine as well, although you might be unprepared for the reveal several seasons from now. You have been warned. ^_-

Let's take the great rabbit... and push it somewhere else!

mike

Damn that's really good. Starting the season showcasing the imblance of their relationship with them putting the other on a pedestal, while downplaying their own worth. To ending the season, showing their growth with them acknowledging their own strength and worth.. while knowing they can rely on each other for support.

Reuben Filimaua

Next season, is about to get hype, first part of season (first 8 episodes) has a lot of information but rest of it (part 2, the last 8 episodes) going to have insane fights and start of the true hell for “Natsuki Subaru”

There are consequences to telling someone about RTD through someone else. Roswall also doesn't know how Subaru loops, what limitations the power has, or how much control Subaru has over it. In this case a little knowledge is more dangerous than none. Beako would act knowing Subaru can loop which is not dangerous. She would try to ask Subaru about the details of the power and Subaru wouldn't be able to say anything, Beako would not understand why this is.

Kaasim Alam Baloch

Ah I see your explanation makes more sense about Roswal's reason being his own philosophy and perspective rather than just following the tome of wisdom blindly, so in other ways the tome of wisdom was just a trump card that he used to devise his plans. but while I remember him talking about killing the dragon back in season 1, I didn't make this link because it seemed very far fetched (I'm no LN reader) and I mean making Emilia the queen is an essentail step towards his goal either way right ? So I chose to be as vague as possible. You should pin your comment by the way

Adel Bouzazia

I don't think Roswaal was molding Subaru into someone who could sacrifice everyone for Emilia because the Tome told him. I think he was pushing Subaru into that tunnel vision mentality because its what ROSWAAL believes would be the most effective way to succeed. Based on Roswaal's loss and life experiences, Roswaal believes going about it this way is the only way to be strong and succeed at anything. That's the bitter truth Roswaal came to when he lost Echidna because he wasn't strong enough to protect her. The Tome of Wisdom simply told Roswaal the future and the important actions/choices that would lead to that future. That's how I see it. I could be wrong but that's how I interpreted Roswaal's character and the Tome of Wisdom. We were told Roswaal's future goal in Season 1 was to kill the Dragon that protects the country of Lugunica. And it seems the way to even get to be in the presence of the Dragon is to be the winner of the Royal Selection, since the Dragon has a covenent with the Royal Family (which has mysteriously all died off and is why we're having this Royal Selection in the first place). Hence why Roswaal is supporting Emilia (the most naive one capable of being manipulated) to get her to win. Now what does killing the Dragon have to do with reviving Echidna.. THAT is what we don't know yet.

Reuben Filimaua

I’ll never be over the “Weekend at Bernie’s” treatment they gave Rem In this episode.

The Anime Dude

Idk if this is just a me thing but if I was Subaru I would immediately tell Roswall to tell Beatrice about return by death

Moroni W

The conversation Subaru and Emilia have in episode 1, and the last conversation here on the balcony, are I think great summary of what we went through this season and how both of them developed. Subaru: You're amazing, Emilia-tan. Emilia: Really? I think you're much more amazing than me. Subaru: No, I'm really not. Compared to now on the balcony... Subaru: You're amazing, Emilia-tan. Emilia: You think so? Thanks. But I think that about you too, I really do. Subaru: *doesn't say anything, doesn't try to refute it*

smajdalf

3:44 I love the personal note he gave this character, too. Plus, it's also funny to me that Subaru's VA got married to Puck's VA recently😂 Poor Emilia. 14:15 This was the reaction I was looking forward to the most this episode 🤣 And you're right, the fact that this implied she was willing to bear his child is wilder than Puck's forgetting to give her "the talk". Hopefully Frederica the maid can at least bring her knowledge up to date :P 21:53 Yeah, he said "engrave it onto his soul" so maybe that could have happened. But at least that also means that it would still work even if Roswaal transferred bodies, right? 39:39 I was on the edge of my seat too, but honestly, let's be glad that there was no aweful moment like that!

Peter Butchens

It's been a wild ride, yet there is more to come. Very hyped to see double re:zero upload this week. Thank you for the treat you two!!!

Daniel Huitron

Here is an info dump about Roswal's motives according to what we saw so far : Giving the fact that he wants to bring echidna back Roswal followed the tome of wisdom giving by Echidna, his teacher's guidance. According to the tome of wisdom Roswal needed first to make sure that Subaru will become someone who would only care about saving emilia, a heartless and inhuman person who would make all the necessary sacrifices be it other people or himself for Emilia. Why would roswal need to go that far ? To make sure that Subaru will be able to make Emilia a queen even if the situation required to sacrfice other people Subaru deeply cared about. Now how is Emilia becoming a queen related to Roswal's objective of bringing Echidna back ? No ideas I have some suppositions but I won't share them because I don't know if they are true or not

Adel Bouzazia

Theatric malice this week? What kinda godly gift.

Lark

What Roswal was saying about being an inhuman monster is related to the fact that he used the soul transcription magic on the bodies of members of his family to pass on his soul throught the generations. Which is quite dark that's why he said : " Are you going to curse me as an inhuman monster ?". Also those bodies of his family members worked for him because they have a high affinity to him (they are family) that's why it worked. Echidna on the other hand wasn't successful because none of the vessels/bodies of Ryuzu Meyer could have enough affinity to the witch of greed echidna

Adel Bouzazia

you guys should check out re zero break time it has a lot of cut content

mark9jr

Al Shamac the spell Beatrice cast made the rabbits completely oblivious to their surroundings, their horns with which they detect magic users and prey didn't work anymore and maybe even their eyes were blinded by Beatrice spell meaning the rabbits only detected themselves so they started eating each other because there was no one else on their "radar".

Adel Bouzazia

The anime was more subtle about it while the novels where more explicit. Rooswal essentially used his children as hosts for his soul over the generations. Meaning killing them as their souls are replaced with his own.
