There are 2 conditions: the vessel must have affinity with spirits and the vessel must not have a contract with another spirit. When these conditions are met he can force a one way contract onto a body, essentially taking them over.

2024-10-17 03:25:02 +0000 UTCWe actually had 4 years of a nice happy ending, the end credit scene was given before season 2 My interpretation of pride is that they're mixing Subaru up with someone else since he's got Satella's return by death for some reason - hes got so much "love" or "smell" depending on who you ask that it's confusing for the cult - it's why the no named followers listen to his demands. Also, my crazy theory is Satella is setting up Emilia to be a vessel - I can't think of any other reason why Subaru is so special

The only effect it had was to mock and upset Betelgeuse because Subaru wrote in his holy scripture. It was his way of saying "F you"

During the last episode when you guys were relieved that Rem wasn’t following Subaru, I was doing that monkey puppet side-eye meme the whole time. Also there’s a translation error in the last episode. The empty letter was actually written by Rem, not by Subaru so this was such clever foreshadowing.
