Vinland Saga S2 Episode 1

No one got mad at this one cause they know it’s true

Let's go for peak farming

In all honesty though, depending where you look, the timeline, economy, laws, and whether it was religiously and racially motivated, a lot of slavery was "comically mundane" though, and what we think of "common folk" is often the lives of slaves. It's just that two of the worst treatments of slaves in history are the ones that come to mind first when we think of slavery, which is the jews in Egypt, and the black Americans (taken from all over the place, not just Africa) which both happened to be racially and religiously motivated. 😅 in truth, modern labor laws in places like Idaho, or the way out-sourced production, immigrants, and low-class citizenry are handled is eerily similar to much of the world's history of slavery laws. But ya, I do like how S2 handles what Norwegian slavery would've looked like, which they did have a negative view of mistreatment of slaves, they offered opportunities of freedom, and they had certain protections, but it often came down to the individual owners and their handling. I think this show overall, while still colored by the stigma caused by Saxon biased texts, is very well researched, and they even show with Einar and specifically his sister due to her clothing, that their slavery wasn't racially motivated (meaning they didn't only enslave the Saxons or other foreigners, but often people from opposing tribes or commoners of those different regions) I am interested to read the Manga and see how they differ. 😊

We getting lots of character development for a bunch of old characters from season one in this one. I was heavily awaiting for this when you guys started watching the show initially and I saw it say Vinland Saga Episode 1. Also, as far as I know, it seemed implied I think, I don’t entirely remember. Since Thorfinn attacked Canute the new king and member of the royal line, he was sent away, in that sense, he ended up becoming a slave as a result, as far as my knowledge goes, either that or that’s the headcannon I have for the situation.

Curious if they went back to see the openings for the first season

Interesting thing is all the backstory in this episode is anime only content. In the manga the slavery part was also made to be almost… in a very weird way comedically mundane rather than focusing on how unfortunate it actually is. Think both are good in their respective mediums although think Mappa did a good job

Peakland truly begins 🗣‼️

Yellow_Flash

Bro what??? Nah, we need to revoke your phone privilages asap 👮‍♂️

Yellow_Flash

Thorfinn probably has a veiny BWC ngl

Yang

This is some time after losing Askeladd, and slicing the newly crowned Canute with Leif is still looking for him, and somehow, a defeated Thorfinn ended up on this farm.

James

I just realized this season was done by a different studio. They really knocked it out of the park with this episode holy shit.

Crimson

Season 2 is really good, looking forward to your reactions to what's ahead.

Leonard Martinez

Einar has a powerful BWC

Yang

Remember that Thorfinn sliced someone quite important at the end of the finale lol, he wasn't going to get off scott free

Josh Ashford

New season, new characters and new names to mispronounce lol

Gustavo

Lol you forgot what actually happened at the end of the last episode, remember exactly what thorfin did and what the consequences would be

Joshua Gilbert

the reason some of the shots may remind u of attack on titan is because the second season of vinland saga was done by Mappa (same studio as attack on titan)

gr2ves

I really hope you guys react to this opening, one of the best

Josh Ashford

oh I love this opening, shame you have to skip
