At first I thought Subaru was just being cringe with his reaction to Otto telling him they were friends. But then I remembered there was a time line Otto forgot where he pushed Subaru to his death. So Subaru being surprised wasn't out of nowhere.

That's for example why (in the mansion's arc) Rem didn't try to kill him in his first loop, and why here for the sanctuary's arc, Garfiel had a better opinion of him in his first loop. Because at that point he didn't return from death yet.

I am beginning to think it was Subaru himself that started the return by death in an alternate reality, wishing he had the power to save everyone, and it was granted under the same condition as Echidna's garden, that he can't remember making that deal or wish or whatever. 🧐 just a theory though. I just can't imagine why the witch of Envy would do this to him otherwise. Ugh.. still reeling from the rabbits 🫣 I swear this show ingrained a new fear into me

Also still like Garfiel myself. I think it gets easier to like him when you realize he's just like Subaru, but knows more info. He HATES the witches cult and Subaru may as well be one of them, plus Subaru lost all the friendship they built after the first loop so that is why Garfiel ended up where he did in this ep.

2024-11-21 18:41:20 +0000 UTCSo Garfiel is one of my favorite characters in the show so I might be a bit biased and I understand disliking him right now but it feels like you guys are forgetting Rem and Ram also killed Subaru even though they knew him better than Garfiel does they also acted differently depending on how much he smelled like the which Rem and Ram where trying to protect the Mansion and Garfiel is trying to protect the Sanctuary also on the first loop with Rem and Ram when he didnt smell likethe witch and acted normal they didnt kill him and its the same with Garfiel during his first loop Garfiel was reasoned with to let Subaru go visit the mansion and was ok with Subaru doing the trials they pretty much behaved the same so it feels misplaced to hate Garfiel so much when you didnt feel the same about Rem and Ram.

A beautiful scene of relief for Subaru, sublimed by the music and incredible voice-acting. This ep makes everyone love (even more) Echidna. It's very interesting to watch you cooking...while you're missing yet a lot of pieces. Don't worry, many are coming very, very soon... with more questions ^^. /!\ ps : Info not specified in the anime, but which will be useful for a better understanding later: the body fluid in the tea is Echidna saliva.

Rem killed Subaru because his scent got stronger from continuously dying. And she thought he was part of the cultists, just like Garf thinks. The villagers are helping (in his mind) an enemy. (Plus isn’t the VA Nishinoya?? I know by all the screaming that it’s 100% Bakugo lol but are they voiced by the same VA?)
